Punk rock and hardcore punk in Brazil originated in the late 1970s, influenced by bands such as Sex Pistols, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers and The Ramones. The first known Brazilian punk rock band was ''Restos de Nada'' ("remains of nothing"), which appeared in mid-1978 and set the stage for the emergence of many other bands that formed the Brazilian punk scene. From 1980 to 1985, São Paulo became a notable hub, featuring bands like '' Cólera'', ''Olho Seco'', ''Garotos Podres'', ''Lobotomia'', ''Mercenárias'' (an all-female band) and ''Ratos de Porão''. Capital Inicial is a Brazilian rock band that flourished in the 1980s, saw a resurgence in the late 1990s, and extended into the 2000s. History The band has recorded fifteen studio albums, six live albums and seven DVDs in their 40-year career. ''Espirito'' (Brazilian for "Spirit") is the second album by Lawson Rollins. Rollins composed all of the music and co-produced the album with Persian-American musician and producer Shahin Shahida (of Shahin & Sepehr) and multi-platinum producer Dominic Camardella (Flora Purim, 3rd Force, Ottmar Liebert). Dead Fish (band)
Dead Fish is a Brazilian hardcore band that formed in Vitória, Espírito Santo, in 1991. After releasing four independent albums and numerous demos, they reached the mainstream market and garnered national attention with their breakthrough album '' Zero e Um'' (''Zero and One''), released by Deckdisc in 2004. For the title track from this album, they won an MTV Video Music Brazil award for Best New Artist. They went on to win Best Hardcore Video at the 2009 MTV Video Awards. In computing, DELTREE (short for ''delete tree'') is a command line command in some Microsoft operating systems, SpartaDOS X and FreeDOS that recursively deletes an entire subdirectory of files. Overview When IBM and Microsoft introduced PC DOS 1.0 and MS-DOS 1.0, subdirectories were not yet supported. This state of affairs was remedied with the release of DOS 2.0, which introduced support for subdirectories and directory nesting; however, it had no built-in facility for deleting entire subdirectory trees. Through the release of MS-DOS 5.0, removing nested subdirectories required removing all of the files in the lowest subdirectories, then removing the subdirectory itself, then repeating the process up the directory tree. Raimundos
Raimundos is a Brazilian punk/hardcore band formed in 1987 by Digão and Rodolfo Abrantes, in Brasília, Distrito Federal. They had with major influences from 1980s punk bands, especially Ramones, from which their name is a play of. Raimundos went on to achieve major success and become one of the most influential rock bands of Brazil in the 1990s, with multiple gold records and a double platinum achievement on their MTV live album. The band's prominence decreased significantly with the exit of vocalist Abrantes to focus on religious activities. The name of the band alludes and ironically refers to the proper name Raimundo, as it was one of the most common male first names of persons from the Northeast region of Brazil, while also being a local-flavored homage to the Ramones. Point of No Return was a vegan, straight edge metalcore band from São Paulo, Brazil. History Point Of No Return assembled in 1996, initially as a side project of the band Self-Conviction. Point Of No Return's lyrics primarily focused on "Third World struggles" and animal liberation issues. Their sound was described as a mix of Earth Crisis metal mosh with death metal elements. The band had three singers, like their North American counterpart, Path of Resistance. Point Of No Return's first full-length album, ''Centelha'' (“Sparks”), was released on CD by Liberation Records in Brazil and Catalyst Records in the United States. The band toured internationally, first to Europe in 2000 and then to Argentina in 2001. Straight Edge
Straight edge (sometimes abbreviated sXe or signified by XXX or X) is a subculture of hardcore punk whose adherents refrain from using alcohol, tobacco, and other recreational drugs, in reaction to the excesses of punk subculture. For some, this extends to refraining from engaging in promiscuous sex, to following a vegetarian or vegan diet, and to not using caffeine or prescription drugs.
