Tollywood Bangla
Tollywood, also known as Cinema of West Bengal, is an Cinema of India, Indian film industry of Bengali language, Bengali-language motion pictures. It is based in the Tollygunge region of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The origins of the nickname Tollywood, a portmanteau of the words Tollygunge and Cinema of the United States, Hollywood, dates back to 1932. Ranjit Mallick (রঞ্জিত মল্লিক) (born 28 September 1944) is an Indian actor who works mainly in Bengali cinema. He is particularly known for appearing in films such as ''Interview'', ''Mouchak'', ''Shatru'', ''Shakha Proshakha'', '' Guru Dakshina'', ''Amader Songsar'', ''Indrajit'', ''Jiban Niye Khela'', ''Nabab'', '' Sathi'', ''Nater Guru'', '' Gyarakal'', '' Chander Bari'' and ''Bajimaat''. Anjan Choudhury (25 November 1944 – 21 February 2007) was an Indian film director, writer, and screenplay writer who worked in the Bengali cinema of West Bengal. He was survived by his wife Jaysree Choudhury and two daughters, namely Chumki Chowdhury (elder) and Rina Choudhury, and son. His elder son in law is named Sajal. ''Guru Dakshina'' is a 1987 Bengali film directed by Anjan Choudhury and produced by Bhabesh Kundu. The film stars Ranjit Mallick, Tapas Paul, Satabdi Roy, Kali Banerjee, and Shakuntala Barua in the lead roles. The film is about a poor village boy named Jayanta Bose who becomes a popular singer through his singing. Plot Jayanta Bose, a poor naive village boy, gets a low paying job at the rich but corrupt businessman, Mr. Roy's company to support him and his mother. Shubhendu Chatterjee, M.B.B.S. (29 November 1936 – 5 July 2007) was an Indian physician and actor, who is known for acting in Bengali television and films. A contemporary of actors Uttam Kumar and Soumitra Chatterjee, with whom he played second hero in many films, Dr. Chatterjee with age had graduated into character roles.
