Robert Ekhart
Robert Ekhart ( hy, Ռոբերտ Էքհարթ; 1935, in Tabriz – 1994, in Los Angeles) was an Iranian, film director, and editor-in-chief. Biography Ekhart born in Tabriz to a German father and Armenian mother. His father was a factory owner in Tabriz and was first disappeared and then killed by the Allied troops occupying Iran in September 1940. In his teens, Ekhart moved to Tehran with his mother and inserted his name in ''Jahan-e Cinema'' orld of Cinema Magazinewhich led to writing for the monthly ''Setare Cinema'' ovie Star Magazine In 1956 he was promoted to its editor-in-chief. Upon his mother's death, he quit writing for the magazine and traveled, moving to Germany in 1958 where he studied directing and worked in Bavaria Film Studio. He returned to Iran in 1961. Kropotkin
Pyotr Alexeyevich Kropotkin (; russian: link=no, Пётр Алексе́евич Кропо́ткин ; 9 December 1842 – 8 February 1921) was a Russian anarchist, socialist, revolutionary, historian, scientist, philosopher, and activist who advocated anarcho-communism. Born into an aristocratic land-owning family, Kropotkin attended a military school and later served as an officer in Siberia, where he participated in several geological expeditions. He was imprisoned for his activism in 1874 and managed to escape two years later. He spent the next 41 years in exile in Switzerland, France (where he was imprisoned for almost four years) and England. While in exile, he gave lectures and published widely on anarchism and geography. Kropotkin returned to Russia after the Russian Revolution in 1917, but he was disappointed by the Bolshevik state. Marcos Grigorian
Marcos Grigorian, also known as Marco Grigorian ( hy, Մարկոս Գրիգորեան; fa, مارکو گريگوريان; December 5, 1925 – August 27, 2007) was an Iranian-Armenian and American artist and gallery owner, and he was a pioneer of Iranian modern art. Early life and education Grigorian was born in Kropotkin, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, to an Armenian family from Kars who had fled that city to escape massacres when it was captured by Turkey in 1920. In 1930, the family moved from Kropotkin to Iran, living first in the city of Tabriz, and then in Tehran. The Apadana gallery in Tehran opened in 1949, and began showing his work. After finishing his primary education in Iran, in 1950 he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Graduating from there in 1954, he returned to Iran, opened the Galerie Esthétique, an important commercial gallery in Tehran. Aram Gharabekian ( hy, Արամ Ղարաբեկյան, 4 July 1955 – 10 January 2014) was an Iranian-born Armenian conductor, former Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. In 1983 he founded and until 1996 directed and conducted the ''Boston SinfoNova Orchestra''. Biography Aram Gharabekian was born into an Armenian family in Tehran, Iran, on 4 July 1955. He moved to the United States at the age of 17. He graduated from the New England Conservatory in Boston, then continued his postgraduate studies at Mainz University in Germany. He studied conducting with Franco Ferrara in Italy, and in 1979 became one of a few conducting pupils of Sergiu Celibidache in Germany. Kemaliye
Kemaliye (formerly Eğin) ( hy, Ակն, Romanized Old Armenian: ''Akn'', meaning "spring") is both a town in and one of the nine districts of Erzincan Province in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey. The town is known for its historic architecture, including many Ottoman-era houses. It is also notable for its commanding view of the river Karasu (Euphrates) flowing south through a gorge above the Keban Dam. History Eğin may have been founded by Paulician Armenian Christians in the 9th century. Certainly, a Paulician state was headquartered at nearby Tephrike (modern Divriği) by 844. Alternatively, the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica reports that Eğin was settled by Armenians who emigrated from Van in the 11th century with Senekherim (presumably Seneqerim-Hovhannes of Vaspurakan of the Artsruni dynasty). Nicol Galanderian Nicol Galanderian ( hy, Նիկոլ Գասպարի Գալանդերյան; also Nikol Kalanderian; September 7, 1881 – March 2, 1944) was a noted composer of Armenian music known for vocal, choral and children's works with a compositional basis of folk music and urban folksong. Life and career Born 7 September 1881 in Akn, historical Armenia – present-day Kemaliye, Turkey – to a shoemaker's family, Nicol Galanderian lost most of his family in the Turkish massacres of 1894-96. Galanderian, his mother Eva and a brother survived and settled in Eastern Armenia. In 1900 Galanderian began studies under the noted Armenian composer Komitas Vardapet at the Gevorgian Seminary. He studied with Komitas for two years, becoming familiar with Armenian church music and the Armenian notational system.
