Román Viñoly Barreto (8 August 1914 – 20 August 1970) was a Uruguayan-Argentine film director. Biography Viñoly Barreto directed 28 feature films between 1947 and 1966 including ''The Black Vampire'', '' Paper Boats'', the 1954 film '' El Abuelo'' which starred Enrique Muino and Mecha Ortiz and Esta Es Mi Vida starring Miguel de Molina. His 1958 film ''Los dioses ajenos'' was entered into the 8th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1965 film ''La pérgola de las flores'' was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. Two years later, he was a member of the jury of the 5th Moscow International Film Festival. He was also a notable screenwriter, theater and opera director. Personal life The director was the father of architect Rafael Viñoly, artist Daniel Viñoly, and Dr. Ana Maria de la Merced Viñoly. Mario Soffici
Mario Soffici (14 May 1900 – 10 May 1977) was an Argentine film director, actor and screenwriter of the classic era. Biography A native of Florence, Soffici moved to Argentina in the 1920s and began acting in 1931 and directing in 1935 on the film ''El Alma de Bandoneón'', working with popular actors of the period such as Libertad Lamarque in tango-based musical films. He directed some 40 films between 1935 and 1962, most notably ''Prisioneros de la tierra'' (1939) (often cited as one of the greatest in Argentine cinema), '' El Curandero'' (1955), '' El hombre que debía una muerte'' (1955) and '' Rosaura a las 10'' (1958). He directed and co-wrote with Eduardo Boneo and Francisco Madrid'' La cabalgata del circo,'' where Eva Duarte played a supporting role. He died in Buenos Aires in 1977. Widely considered one of the most respected and most acclaimed Argentine comedians by the public and critics. He has made over 80 appearances in film between 1933 and 1980. Early life He was born in the neighborhood of Caballito and was the son of Genovese immigrants. His father was a theatrical actor, and Luis began to work in a circus next to his parents, like clown.
