( en, End of the Night) is a 1944 Argentine film. It is notable for being an anti-Nazi film made in neutral Argentina during World War II and set in occupied France. Shot from August to November 1943 in Cordoba Province, the release was put on hold for more than a year, pending authorization by the pro-Axis military government of that time. The film is also remembered in Argentina for Libertad Lamarque's performance of the tango ''Uno'', composed by Mariano Mores and Enrique Santos Discépolo. Pierre Chenal
Pierre Chenal (; 5 December 1904 – 23 December 1990) was a French director and screenwriter who flourished in the 1930s. He was married to Czech-born French film actress Florence Marly from 1937 to 1955. Work Chenal was best known for film noir thrillers such as the 1937 film '' L'Alibi'', where he worked with Erich von Stroheim and Louis Jouvet. In 1939 he made ''Le Dernier Tournant'', the first of many film treatments of James M. Cain's celebrated novel, '' The Postman Always Rings Twice''. Chenal was Jewish and was forced in 1942 to flee occupied France with his wife, Czech actress Florence Marly, for South America. Leopoldo Torres Ríos
Leopoldo Torres Ríos (27 December 1899 – 10 April 1960) was an Argentine film director and screenwriter. His brother Carlos Torres Ríos was a notable cinematographer. His son was the film director and screenwriter Leopoldo Torre Nilsson. Rios initially solely began as a screenwriter, writing for his first film '' Palomas rubias'' in 1920 but by 1923 he began simultaneously directing and writing for his films, producing over 40 films between the early 1920s and 1959 when he was taken ill with lung cancer. He died on 10 April 1960, aged 60, in his native Buenos Aires. Julio Saraceni
Julio Saraceni (October 10, 1912 – October 12, 1998) was a prolific Argentine film director whose career in the Cinema of Argentina as a movie director spanned six decades. He was an aviator as a young man, but later found a career in film, where he debuted as a director in a 1937 short film, ''Fórmula secreta'', in which he used his flying experience for the making of numerous scenes. He directed his first full-length title, Florencio Parravicini's comedy vehicle, ''Noches de carnaval'', later that year. Saraceni married a member of the crew, Argentina Mori, and with her made some 60 films between 1938 and 1986, such as ''María Celeste'' (1944), '' Alma de bohemio'' (1949), ''La barra de la esquina'' (1950), and ''La mejor del colegio'' (1953).
