AL24 News
AL24 News is an Algerian public international news channel broadcasting in Arabic, French and English since 1 November 2021. History The concept for the channel was initially proposed by then-Minister of Communication Ammar Belhimer, to project Algerian soft power abroad. Prior to the channel's launch, Belhimer said that "the project to create an international television channel is a major focus of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's program". A ceremony marking the channel's official launch took place on 30 October 2021, on the 67th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian War, with broadcasts commencing on 1 November 2021 at midnight (WAT). Salim Aggar, a former director of the Algerian Cinematheque, was appointed as its inaugural director-general. AL24 News and the Russian channel RT Arabic have signed a cooperation agreement on . ''As-salamu alaykum'' (, ), also written ''salamun alaykum'' and typically rendered in English as ''salam alaykum'', is a greeting in Arabic that means 'Peace be upon you'. The (, meaning 'peace') has become a religious salutation for Muslims worldwide when greeting each other, though its use as a greeting predates Islam, and is also common among Arabic speakers of other religions (such as Arab Christians and Mizrahi Jews). In colloquial speech, often only , 'peace', is used to greet a person. This shorter greeting, (), has come to be used as the general salutation in other languages as well. The typical response to the greeting is ( , 'and peace be upon you'). Nedjma TV
''Nedjma'' is a novel written by Kateb Yacine and published in 1956. It tells the story of four young men (Mustapha, Lakhdar, Rachid, Mourad) who fall in love with Nedjma, daughter of an Algerian and a French woman, during the French colonization of Algeria. It is set in the east of Algeria, with most of the action taking place in the region around Constantine and Annaba (referred to by its French name, Bône, in the text). Plot summary Although published in 1956, thus during the Algerian War of Independence which began in November 1954, it was largely written between 1947 and 1953, and the novel's political dimension applies specifically to this period rather than to the war itself. The central action of the novel takes place during the period following the nationalist demonstrations of 8 May 1945, which included the Sétif massacre. Ennahar TV
Ennahar TV () is an Arabic satellite television channel broadcasting from Bir Mourad Rais. Ennahar TV was set up by Ennahar Group and a number of Arab intellectuals from Algeria and the rest of the Arab world. History Ennahar TV started broadcasting in test mode on 6 March 2012 using Nilesat from Amman. It opened its programming by broadcasting TV news by the duo of Riyadh Benamar and Nour El Yakin Meghriche. In April 2013, the Ministry of Communication confirmed the approval of Ennahar TV, along with Echourouk TV and El Djazairia. This administrative authorization was provisional and only valid until 31 December 2013. On 5 July 2013, Ennahar Documentaries, a sister channel of Ennahar TV, was launched on Nilesat to broadcast reports and documentaries from the Ennahar TV catalogue continuously. Beur TV
Beur TV is a French television station mostly addressed to France's Maghrebi communities (Algerians, Moroccans and Tunisians). It is broadcast through cable and offered on ADSL. The community-based television station was licensed through the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) in France on 8 January 2002. The chain started broadcasting on 1 April 2003, and was owned by Algerian-French Nacer Kettane, who was also owner of Beur FM radio station. The chain developed partnerships with various Maghrebi media to cover important events in those countries, most notably ENTV (Algeria), RTM and 2M (Morocco) and ERTT (Tunisia). In July 2011, and after the station suffered financial difficulties, Nacer Kettane sold 80% of the enterprise to VOXALGERIE.
