List Of All-Atlantic Hockey Teams
The All-Atlantic Hockey Teams are composed of players at all positions from teams that are members of the Atlantic Hockey Association, an NCAA Division I hockey-only conference. Each year, at the conclusion of the Atlantic Hockey regular season, the head coaches of each member team vote for players to be placed on each all-conference team. The First Team, Second Team and Rookie Teams have been named since 2003–04 (the inaugural year of Atlantic Hockey) and a Third Team was added starting in 2006–07. The all-conference teams are composed of one goaltender, two defencemen and three forwards. Should a tie occur for the final selection at any position, both players will be included as part of the superior team with no reduction in the number of players appearing on any succeeding teams (as happened in 2004–05 and 2008–09). Atlantic Hockey
The Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) is an NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey conference which operates primarily in the northeastern United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as an ice hockey-only conference. Unlike several other college athletic conferences, Atlantic Hockey has no women's division, though it shares some organizational and administrative roles (and two universities) with the women's-only College Hockey America. It was formed in 1997 and began play in the 1998–1999 season as the hockey division of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Within three years, it was granted an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. However, in 2003, Iona and Fairfield dropped hockey, leaving Canisius as the only full MAAC member that sponsored hockey. Quinnipiac Bobcats Men's Ice Hockey
The Quinnipiac Bobcats men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Quinnipiac University. The Bobcats are a member of ECAC Hockey. They play at the M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Connecticut. History Quinnipiac College began sponsoring men's ice hockey as a varsity sport for the 1975–76 season. The program began as an independent team before joining ECAC 3 the following year. The program remained with the third-tier conference for over 20 years despite being a Division II school for much of that time. The Braves left ECAC 3 in 1997 and spent a year as a D-II independent before moving up to Division I as part of the university's transition to the top level. Quinnipiac was a founding member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ice hockey division, joining the conference as an affiliate member. Reid Cashman
Reid Cashman (born March 14, 1983) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman, who currently serves as the head coach for the Dartmouth Big Green of the NCAA. Cashman attended Quinnipiac University, where he was a standout defenseman for the Quinnipiac Bobcats men's ice hockey team, recording 23 goals and 125 assists for 148 points in 151 career games with the Bobcats. Upon graduation, Cashman was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League, and was assigned to play with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. During his AHL career, Cashman also skated with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Milwaukee Admirals. The Canisius Golden Griffins men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Canisius College. The Golden Griffins are a member of Atlantic Hockey. They play at the LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, New York across the street from KeyBank Center, home of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. The American International Yellow Jackets men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the American International College. The Yellow Jackets are a member of Atlantic Hockey. They play at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. History AIC began its varsity program in 1948, playing a modest schedule for the first dozen years of its existence, building the program under William Turner before he handed it off to Joe Bucholz. In 1961 the Yellow Jackets joined with 27 other eastern schools (mostly in New England) to form ECAC Hockey. AIC finished near the bottom for three seasons and in 1964 it was decided that the conference was too unwieldy to continue and was split into two divisions. The Holy Cross Crusaders men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the College of the Holy Cross. The Crusaders are a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). They play at the Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. History Holy Cross men's ice hockey began in 1966 and a year later it joined ECAC 2. The Crusaders played in the second tier of college ice hockey for ten years before they played their first playoff game, but once they made it they didn't go very far. Over a six year period Holy Cross wen 2–5 in the conference postseason and never really got close to an NCAA tournament berth. When Division II ice hockey was abandoned in 1984 Holy Cross dropped down to Division III and was placed in ECAC East when ECAC 2 split.
