Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. The VFL, aiming to become a national competition, began expanding beyond Victoria to other Australian states in the 1980s, and changed its name to the AFL in 1990. The league currently consists of 18 teams spread over five of Australia's six states (Tasmania being the exception). Matches have been played in all states, plus the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory, as well as in New Zealand and China to expand the league's audience. Peter Maynard
Peter Maynard (born 28 June 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Glenelg and Woodville-West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He is best known for his time with Glenelg in the SANFL who he played for from 1982 to 1990. Maynard was a member of Glenelg's drought-breaking premiership win in 1985 and also a part of the team that went back-to-back for Glenelg in 1986. Maynard then spent one season in 1991 with the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles. He later became the team runner for the Adelaide Football Club. Thomas McDonald (born 18 September 1992) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). tall and weighing , McDonald has played both forward and defence. Tom Langdon
Thomas Langdon (born 9 June 1994) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). State football Langdon played junior football with Prahran and with Glen Iris Gladiators, in the Yarra Junior Football League. He nominated for the 2012 AFL draft, but wasn't selected. Brian Cordy (born 14 January 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1981 and 1988 for the Footscray Football Club. He played in 124 games and kicked 18 goals, including all 25 games in 1985, one of Footscray's most successful seasons ever. He played his final game in 1988 against Hawthorn in Round 14. Ayce Cordy (born 6 August 1990) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Bulldogs used their first-round selection, 14th overall, to secure Cordy after bid their first-round selection (pick 13) for him. Cordy's father, Brian, played 124 games for the Bulldogs in the 1980s. His brother, Zaine, currently plays for the Saints. Playing 27 games for the Western Bulldogs, Cordy was delisted at the end of the 2015 season. Maverick Weller (born 13 February 1992) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast Suns, St Kilda Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Brendon Goddard (born 20 May 1985) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda and Essendon in the Australian Football League (AFL). Neville Fields
Neville Fields (born 21 November 1951) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Fields was a left footed centreman and won Essendon's most improved player award in 1971. He was their best and fairest the following season and represented Victoria in interstate football. After struggling for form throughout 1977 he was traded to South Melbourne for Terry Daniher. In 1981 he returned to Essendon where he spent a further two seasons. The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. An AFL Rising Star#Eligibility and nominations, eligible player is nominated for the award each round during the AFL's Australian Football League#Premiership season, regular season, and a panel of experts vote for the winner at the end of the season. Peter Moore (born 11 January 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life and education As a student at Eltham High School, Moore excelled in both academic and sporting events. He played for the Eltham Football Club before being selected to play for Collingwood. Sporting career A tall, agile ruckman with good ball skills, Moore is one of only five men to have won Brownlow Medals at different clubs; with Collingwood in 1979 and with Melbourne in 1984. Winner of the Copeland Trophy in 1979 and 1980 and captain of Collingwood from 1981 to 1982, Moore was inducted into the Collingwood Hall of Fame before being transferred to the Melbourne Football Club.
