This is a list of 20th-century Russian painters of the Russian Federation, Soviet Union, and Russian Empire, both ethnic Russians and people of other ethnicities. Irina Baldina
Irina Mikhailovna Baldina (russian: Ири́на Миха́йловна Ба́лдина; May 18, 1922, Moscow, Soviet Russia – January 15, 2009, Saint Petersburg, Russia) was a Soviet Russian painter who lived and worked in Leningrad, was a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (before 1992 the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation), and is regarded as a representative of the Leningrad school of painting. Biography Irina Mikhailovna Baldina was born May 18, 1922, in Moscow. In 1940-1941 she studied at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts. In 1945 after the Great Patriotic war Baldin was admitted on the Department of Painting of the Repin Institute of Arts in Leningrad, where she studied of Alexander Debler, Boris Fogel, Alexander Segal. Varvara Bubnova
Varvara Bubnova (17 May 1886 – 28 March 1983) was a painter, graphic artist (master of lithography) and pedagogue. Biography She was born in St. Petersburg into the family of Dmitry Kapitonovich Bubnov (?–1914), a bank clerk of lower rank. Her mother Anna Nikolaevna (maiden name Wolfe) (1854–1940) descended from an old noble Russian family and was distantly related to Alexander Pushkin. From 1903 to 1905, Bubnova studied in the studio of Art Promotion Society. From 1907 until 1914 she studied in the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. She attended school with the soon-to-be famous Pavel Filonov and her future husband Voldemārs Matvejs, who was the first Russian researcher of African Art. Misha Brusilovsky (born Mikhail Brussilovsky; 7 May 1931 – 3 November 2016) was a Russian artist, painter and graphic artist. Isaak Brodsky
Isaak Izrailevich Brodsky (russian: Исаак Израилевич Бродский; uk, Іса́к Ізраїльович Бро́дський, – 14 August 1939) was a Soviet painter whose work provided a blueprint for the art movement of socialist realism. He is known for his iconic portrayals of Lenin and idealized, carefully crafted paintings dedicated to the events of the Russian Civil War and Bolshevik Revolution. Life and career Brodsky was born in the village of Sofiyivka near Berdyansk in what is now Ukraine to Yisrael, a Jewish merchant. He studied at Odessa Art Academy and the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. In 1916, he joined the Jewish Society for the Encouragement of the Arts. Victor Borisov-Musatov
Victor Elpidiforovich Borisov-Musatov (russian: Ви́ктор Эльпидифо́рович Бори́сов-Муса́тов), ( – ) was a Russian painter, prominent for his unique Post-Impressionistic style that mixed Symbolism, pure decorative style and realism. Together with Mikhail Vrubel he is often referred as the creator of ''Russian Symbolism'' style. Biography Victor Musatov was born in Saratov, Russia (he added the last name Borisov later). His father was a minor railway official who had been born as a serf. In his childhood he suffered a spinal injury, which made him humpbacked for the rest of his life. Yuri Vladimirovich Belov (russian: Ю́рий Влади́мирович Бело́в; May 27, 1929 – July 23, 2017) was a Russian Soviet realist painter, who lived and worked in Saint Petersburg (former Leningrad). Piotr Petrovich Belousov (russian: Пётр Петро́вич Белоу́сов; May 3, 1912 – March 31, 1989) was a Ukrainian and Russian graphic artist, painter, art teacher, professor of the Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, People's Artist of the USSR, corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, who lived and worked in Leningrad. He was regarded as one of the brightest representatives of the Leningrad school of painting, being most famous for his portraits and historical paintings. Nikolay Bogdanov-Belsky
Nikolay Petrovich Bogdanov-Belsky (russian: Никола́й Петро́вич Богда́нов-Бе́льский; 1868–1945) was a Russian painter. Life Bogdanov-Belsky was born in the village of Shitiki in Smolensk Governorate in 1868. He studied art at the Semyon Rachinsky fine art school, icon-painting at the Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra in 1883, modern painting at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1884 to 1889, and at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg from 1894 to 1895.
