This is a list of transfers involving clubs that played in the 2010 League of Ireland Premier Division and 2010 League of Ireland First Division. The pre-season transfer window opened on 1 December 2009, and closed on 22 February 2010 for domestic transfers, and on 2 March 2010 for foreign transfers. 2010 League Of Ireland Premier Division
The 2010 League of Ireland Premier Division was the 26th season of the League of Ireland Premier Division. The division was made up of 10 teams. Shamrock Rovers were champions while Bohemians finished as runners-up. Teams Overview Airtricity were announced as the new main sponsor for the League of Ireland on 26 February. The prize fund for the season was set at €911,000. The 2010 Premier Division featured 10 clubs. The regular season began on 5 March and concluded on 29 October. Each team played every other team four times, totalling 36 matches. On the final day of the season, Shamrock Rovers won the title with a 2–2 draw away to Bray Wanderers. Second placed Bohemians finished level on points with Rovers but lost out on goal difference. Neale Fenn
Neale Michael Charles Fenn (born 18 January 1977) is a former professional footballer who is also the former manager of League of Ireland clubs Longford Town and Cork City. Club career Early career Fenn played for Tottenham Hotspur, making his professional debut in January 1997 in a third round FA Cup tie at Manchester United alongside Rory Allen, which Spurs lost 2–0. He made his league debut, as a substitute in a 2–1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in April 1997. He made only 10 appearances for Spurs, scoring once, in a League Cup tie against Carlisle in September 1997. Fenn went on loan to several clubs including Norwich City in the First Division. At Norwich he scored once; his goal coming in a 5–0 win against Swindon Town. League of Ireland career Fenn signed for Waterford United in August 2003 and made his League of Ireland debut as a substitute for Daryl Murphy in a home game against Derry City. Alan Cawley
Alan Cawley (born 3 January 1982 in Sligo) is a retired Irish footballer. Career Before signing for Leeds United Cawley attended Summerhill College in Sligo. He began his career at Leeds United and had a spell at Sheffield Wednesday before returning to Ireland to sign for UCD. His impressive performances for the students earned him a move to Shelbourne where he won a league winners medal. He had loan spells at Longford Town and Waterford United before returning for a second spell at Belfield. Cawley made his debut for St Patrick's Athletic on 18 February 2009 vs a Chelsea XI, when he scored his first goal for the club, a wonderful free kick into the top left corner. Steve Williams (footballer Born 1974)
Steven David Williams (born 16 October 1974, in Aberystwyth) is a Welsh coach and former association football player who has served as goalkeeping coach at association football club Dundalk and Gaelic football county teams Louth and Monaghan. He represented his country at Under-15, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level in association football. Career Williams started his career at Coventry City before moving to Cardiff City in 1993. He was handed his professional debut in October 1993 when he played in a 5–0 defeat to York City and featured a number of times throughout the remainder of the 1993–94 season but in the following years he found first team opportunities hard to come by. James Chambers (Irish Footballer)
James Chambers, born 14 February 1987 in Dublin, is an Irish former professional footballer who played for Shelbourne, Waterford United, Drogheda United, Shamrock Rovers (2 spells) and St Patrick's Athletic (2 spells) in Ireland, Solihull Moors in England, Hamilton Academical in Scotland and Bethlehem Steel in the United States. Mark Hughes (Irish Footballer)
Leslie Mark Hughes (born 1 November 1963) is a Welsh football coach and former player who was most recently the head coach of Bradford City. During his playing career he usually operated as a forward or midfielder. He had two spells at Manchester United, and also played for Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as well as the English clubs Chelsea, Southampton, Everton and finally Blackburn Rovers. He made 72 appearances for Wales scoring 16 goals. He won a host of winners' medals during his playing career, including two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and two UEFA Cup Winners' Cups. Gary Richard Deegan (born 28 September 1987) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League of Ireland Premier Division club Drogheda United.
