List Of Universities And Colleges In Nepal
Formal higher learning in Nepal began with the establishment of Tri-Chandra College in 1918, the first college in the country. Until 1985, Tribhuvan University was the only university in the country. The second university to be founded was Mahendra Sanskrit University. The inception of this university was soon followed by Kathmandu University in 1990, and Purbanchal and Pokhara Universities in 1995 and 1996, respectively. Many schools and colleges are run privately but none of the universities in Nepal are private. This list includes all notable universities and colleges/campuses in Nepal. Entries are organised by courses offered, and listed in alphabetical order. Some entries that provide multiple courses may be duplicated in each of the relevant categories. Tri-Chandra College
Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus, more colloquially known as Tri-Chandra College, is a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University located in Ghantaghar, Kathmandu. Found in 1918 by Chandra Shumsher, it is the oldest institute of higher learning in Nepal. Etymology The current name ''Tri-Chandra'' is a truncated combination of two words: ''Tribhuvan'' for Mahārājādhirāja Tribhuwan Bir Bikram Shah and ''Chandra'' for Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher. The college was originally named Tribhuvan Chandra Intermediate Campus but later renamed and shortened to its current name. Budhanilkantha School, often referred to as BNKS, is a competitive public boarding school in Nepal. Karnali Academy Of Health Sciences
Karnali Academy of Health Sciences is an autonomous medical institution of Government of Nepal established by an Act of parliament of Nepal on 20 October 2011. The main purpose of the academy is to provide medical service in the Karnali Province which is considered to be lagging behind in health facilities. It runs the government owned Karnali Zonal hospital in Jumla district. In December 2021, a post graduate course was started by the academy. The teaching facility has capacity of 50 students per year. As per the government rules, 45% of the seats is reserved for the students from Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Kalikot, Mugu, Jajarkot, Bajura, Bajhang and Achham districts.
