Extratropical cyclones, sometimes called mid-latitude cyclones or wave cyclones, are low-pressure areas which, along with the anticyclones of high-pressure areas, drive the weather over much of the Earth. Typhoon Oscar
Typhoon Oscar was a powerful typhoon that affected Japan and killed 8 people and left many other people missing. The seventeenth tropical cyclone and second super typhoon of the moderately active 1995 Pacific typhoon season, It formed as a tropical depression a few hundred miles east-northeast of Guam. The tropical depression strengthened to a tropical storm, giving it the name ''Oscar''. It then reached typhoon status on September 14, becoming a super typhoon later that same day.
