Western Australia (commonly abbreviated as WA) is a state of Australia occupying the western percent of the land area of Australia excluding external territories. It is bounded by the Indian Ocean to the north and west, the Southern Ocean to the south, the Northern Territory to the north-east, and South Australia to the south-east. Alert Rock (Australia)
Barff Peninsula () is a peninsula forming the east margin of Cumberland East Bay, South Georgia Island. It is long and extends northwest from Sörling Valley to Barff Point, its farthest extremity. It was probably first seen by the British expedition under James Cook in 1775. The peninsula as a whole takes its name from Barff Point, which was named for Royal Navy Lieutenant A.D. Barff of , who, assisted by Captain C.A. Larsen, sketched a map of Cumberland Bay in 1906. Barff Point is considered the eastern headland of East Cumberland Bay. Named features The coastline of Barff Peninsula is irregular and marked by indented bays and coves, with headlands and points projecting out into the sea. Afghan Rock
Balladonia is a small roadhouse community located on the Eyre Highway in Western Australia. It is the first stop east of Norseman on the journey east across the Nullarbor Plain. Between Balladonia and Caiguna is a stretch of the highway which is one of the longest straight stretches of road in the world. History The name is an Aboriginal word meaning "big rock by itself". The area was settled by Europeans in 1879, and the original Balladonia homestead was built away from the present townsite. From 1897 to 1929, Balladonia was a telegraph station on the East-West Telegraph, a telegraph line running from Perth to Adelaide telegraph line, due to a previous coastal line being shorted by salt spray from the Southern Ocean. The arid climate and lack of suitable water sources restricted the town's development. Adam Rock(Western Australia)
Adam's Rock (he: סלע אדם – ''Sela Adam''; ar: حجر آدم) or Adam's Island (he: אי אדם – Ie Adam; ar: جزيرة آدم) is a tiny Israeli island about half a kilometer west of Bat Yam. A smaller rock (island) is located 10 m west of Adam Rock. Geology and geomorphology Adam's Rock is a protrusion in an abrasion platform, a remnant of an ancient kurkar ridge. This ridge was unevenly destroyed in abrasion, a process of grinding and erosion. History The beach near the island is known as Rock Beach, after the tiny island opposite the beach. Until the breakwaters at the Rock Beach in Bat Yam were built in the late 1960s, the rock could only be reached swimming or sailing. Swimming there was and still is a common activity among bathers. Evolution of the Arabic digit In the beginning, various Indians wrote a digit 9 similar in shape to the modern closing question mark without the bottom dot. The Kshatrapa, Andhra and Gupta started curving the bottom vertical line coming up with a -look-alike. The Nagari continued the bottom stroke to make a circle and enclose the 3-look-alike, in much the same way that the sign @ encircles a lowercase ''a''.
