County Tipperary ( ga, Contae Thiobraid Árann) is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Munster and the Southern Region. The county is named after the town of Tipperary, and was established in the early 13th century, shortly after the Norman invasion of Ireland. It is Ireland's largest inland county and shares a border with 8 counties, more than any other. The population of the county was 159,553 at the 2016 census. Mark Francis O'Meara (born January 13, 1957) is an American professional golfer. He was a tournament winner on the PGA Tour and around the world from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. He spent nearly 200 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking from their debut in 1986 to 2000. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2015. Kathleen O'Meara, also known under her pen name Grace Ramsay (1839 – 10 November 1888), was an Irish-French Catholic writer and biographer during the late Victorian era. She was the Paris correspondent of ''The Tablet'', a leading British Catholic magazine. ''Irish Monthly'' also published many of her serialized and biographical works. O'Meara also wrote works of fiction where she explored a variety of topics from women's suffrage to eastern European revolutions. Kathleen O'Meara (born 24 January 1960) is an Irish former Labour Party politician. She was a member of Seanad Éireann from 1997 to 2007. On both occasions she was elected by the Agricultural Panel. Career During the mid-1980s, O'Meara worked for the Labour Party. In 1988, she began working as an RTÉ journalist. At the 1997 general election, O'Meara was an unsuccessful candidate in the Tipperary North constituency. At the 1999 local elections, she was elected to Nenagh Town Council. She was a candidate again for Dáil Éireann at the 2002 general election, increasing her share of the vote from 10.3% to 13.5%, but again failing to be elected. John O'Meara (1856 – 3 July 1904) was a Liberal Party Member of Parliament in New Zealand. Private life O'Meara was born in Australia in 1856. He came to New Zealand with his family in 1868, and joined the Post and Telegraph Department in 1871. After that, he was in business in Queenstown in Otago. His sister married Albert Eichardt, the owner of Eichardt's Hotel. Soon after the November election, he moved to Woodville in the Manawatū-Whanganui region. He became an auctioneer by trade.
