List Of Men's All-WCHA Hockey Teams
The All-WCHA Hockey Teams are composed of players at all positions from teams that are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), an NCAA Division I hockey-only conference. Each year, from 1959–60 onward, at the conclusion of the WCHA regular season, the head coaches of each member team vote for players to be placed on each all-sir team. The First Team and Second Team have been named in each WCHA Hockey season with a Third Team added in 1995–96; a Rookie Team was added starting in 1990–91. The all-conference teams are composed of one goaltender, two defensemen, and three forwards. If a tie occurred for the final selection at any position, both players were included as part of the greater all-conference team; if a tie resulted in an increase in the number of superior all-stars, the inferior team would not be reduced in number (as happened in 1963–64). Players may only appear once per year on any of the first, second, or third teams but a freshman may a ...

Western Collegiate Hockey Association
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) is a college athletic conference which operates in the Midwestern United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as a women's ice hockey-only conference. From 1951 to 1999, it operated as a men-only league, adding women's competition in the 1999–2000 season. It operated men's and women's leagues through the 2020–21 season; during this period, the men's WCHA expanded to include teams far removed from its traditional Midwestern base, with members in Alabama, Alaska, and Colorado at different times. The men's side of the league officially disbanded after seven members left to form the revived Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA); the WCHA remains in operation as a women-only league. WCHA member teams won a record 38 men's NCAA hockey championships, most recently in 2011 by the Minnesota–Duluth Bulldogs. A WCHA team also finished as the national runner-up a total of 28 times. WCHA teams also won the first 13 NC ...

Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. This then begins the triangle again. Forwards also shared defensive responsibilities on the ice with the defencemen. ...

Career Player Tony Frasca began attending Colorado College in the fall of 1948, joining a team that had made the first NCAA tournament the year before. Frasca began playing with the Tigers after sitting out his freshman year (as was common) and for the third consecutive year Colorado College made the tournament. In the first game Frasca and Tigers knocked off defending champion Boston College 10–3, moving onto their first national title game. Against Boston University the Tigers got down early before rebounding in the second period to take a 3–1 lead into the third. Once in the final frame CC produced the greatest offensive period the championship match has ever seen, scoring 10 times (2 by Frasca) to demolish the Terriers 13–4 and claim the school's first national title. One of his two goals in the thi ...

Defenseman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three Forward (ice hockey), forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Exceptions include Overtime (ice hockey), overtime during the regular season and when a team is Short-handed, shorthanded (i.e. has been assessed a penalty), in which two defencemen are typically joined by only two forwards and a goaltender. In National Hockey League regular season play in overtime, effective with the 2015–16 NHL season, 2015-16 season, teams (usually) have only three position players and a goa ...

Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the ''Ice hockey rink#Crease, goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Goaltenders tend to stay at or beyond the top of the crease to cut down on the angle of shots. In the modern age of goaltending there are two common styles, butterfly and hybrid (hybrid is a mix of the traditional stand-up style and butterfly technique). Because of the power of shots, the goaltender wears special equipment to protect the body from direct impact. Goaltenders are one of the most important players on the ice, as their performance may greatly impact the outcome or score of the game. One-on-one situations, such as breakaways and shootouts, have the tendency to showcase a goaltender's pure skill, or lack ...

Ken Kinsley
Kenneth Kinsley is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender who was the MOP of the 1952 NCAA Tournament for Colorado College. Career Kinsley began attending Colorado College a year after the program won its first National Championship and became the team's starting goaltender in his sophomore season. With many seniors on the squad being holdovers from the title team, Kinsley produced a tremendous season, helping CC win the inaugural MCHL championship with a record of 18–4–1. He was named to both the All- MCHL First Team and was an AHCA Second Team All-American for his efforts. Unfortunately, because Colorado College didn't keep goaltending records at the time, none of his individual statistics are precisely known. Kinsley backstopped CC to their fifth consecutive championship appearance, but in the semifinal it looked as if the moment might be too much for the young goaltender. Kinsley allowed three goals in the first 9 minutes of the game and Yale took a sizeable l ...
