There are two different kinds of swimming records in Malaysia and certified by Malaysia Swimming (MAS): * National record, more commonly referred to in Malaysia as the ''rekod kebangsaan'': the best time recorded anywhere in the world by a swimmer or team holding Malaysian citizenship. So far Malaysia Swimming maintains an official list only in long course events. * Malaysian All-Comers record: the best time recorded within Malaysia by a swimmer or team regardless of nationality. Malaysia Swimming Federation
Malaysia Swimming Federation ( ms, Persekutuan Renang Malaysia) is the national sport governing body, governing body of swimming (sport), swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming, Diving (sport), diving and open water swimming, open water in Malaysia. Founded as the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) ( ms, Persatuan Renang Amatur Malaysia), the body adopted its current name in July 2020. It is charged with selecting Malaysia Olympic Swimming team and any other teams which officially represent Malaysia, as well as the overall organization and operation of the sport within the country. The national headquarters is located at the National Aquatic Centre, National Sports Complex, Malaysia, National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. The Swimming (sport), swimming competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place from 9 to 17 August 2008 at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. The newly introduced open water marathon events (10 km) were held on 20 and 21 August 2008 at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park. Swimming featured 34 events (17 male, 17 female), including two 10 km Marathon swimming, open-water marathons. The remaining 32 were contested in a 50 m Olympic-size swimming pool, long course pool within the Olympic Park. The women's 100 metre breaststroke event at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held from 25 July to 27 July 2021 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Swimming At The 2019 Southeast Asian Games
The swimming competitions at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila are being held at the New Clark City Aquatics Center from 4 to 9 December 2019. It is one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with diving, open water swimming, and water polo. Summary Singapore improved on its last SEA Games result and won over half the available gold medals, 23 out of 38, to be the first in swimming events again with a total of 37 medals. The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. It is Malaysia's oldest newspaper still in print (though not the first), having been founded as ''The Straits Times'' on 15 July 1845.
