International men's cricket was first played in Ireland in 1855 by a Gentlemen of England team, although it would not be until 1888 that the first tour by a team termed as representative was made by Scotland. The first Test match to be played in Ireland came 120 years later in 2018 between Ireland and Pakistan at Malahide. The first One Day International to be held in Ireland came in the 1999 Cricket World Cup between Bangladesh and the West Indies at Castle Avenue, Dublin. In 2008, the Stormont in Belfast hosted the first Twenty20 International to be played in Ireland during the 2008 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, with Canada playing the Netherlands. Malahide Cricket Club Ground
Malahide Cricket Club Ground or The Village is a cricket ground in Malahide, Ireland situated in the Lady Acre field of Malahide Castle grounds. The ground is owned by the Malahide Cricket Club. The ground has been developed to a capacity of 11,500 making it Ireland's biggest cricket venue and officially opened for international cricket in 2013. In November 2017, it was confirmed as the venue for Ireland's first Test match, when they played Pakistan in May 2018. History Malahide Cricket Club was founded in 1861. The 5th Baron Talbot of Malahide, Richard Wogan Talbot, was fond of cricket and established a cricket ground in the grounds of Malahide Castle. 2008 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier
The 2008 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was the inaugural tournament of ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier and was played between 2 and 5 August 2008 in Stormont, Belfast in Northern Ireland. The top three played in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20, the international championship of Twenty20 cricket. The six competing teams were: Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, The Netherlands and Scotland. The competition was won by Ireland and the Netherlands, who shared the trophy after rain forced the final to be abandoned without a ball bowled. Both teams qualified for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 finals in England. After the withdrawal of Zimbabwe from the competition, the two finalists were joined by third-placed Scotland who eliminated Kenya. Magheramason
Magheramason () is a small village and townland in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The village sits near the County Londonderry/County Tyrone border, from the city of Derry and from the town of Strabane. In the 2001 census, it had a population of 393 people. It lies within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. Religion In the 1870s, Presbyterians living in the Magheramason area began a campaign to have their own congregation. The Oman national cricket team is the team that represents the country of Oman and is governed by the Oman Cricket Board, which became an Affiliate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2000, and gained Associate status in 2014.
