''The Barber of Stamford Hill'' is a 1962 British drama film directed by Casper Wrede from a screenplay adapted by Ronald Harwood from his own 1960 television play of the same name, made at Shepperton Studios. Actor John Bennett (then aged thirty-four) plays Mr. Figg, a Jewish barber about to turn fifty, as he contemplates middle age and expresses regrets at never having started a family. Plot The film opens in Mr. Figg’s barbershop in Stamford Hill, in which he discusses his family life with his customers. Upon his arrival home, however, it is revealed that he is a bachelor and his stories of family life are inventions he concocts because he believes they are what his customers want to hear. ''The Boys'' is a 1962 British courtroom drama film, directed by Sidney J. Furie and with a screenplay by Stuart Douglass. Plot Four youth Teddy boys are on trial for the murder of a garage night watchman in the course of a burglary on the night of January 15. Witnesses and the accused give differing accounts of the lead-up to the crime, a dispiriting and frustrating evening out in London. Flashbacks of the teenagers' insecure and sometimes alienated lives contrast strongly with the austere legality of the courtroom as, by degrees, the truth emerges. The film acts as a series of vignettes, relating to the evidence of each witness, who saw the boys on the evening in question. Each story helps to build an overall picture of their character. Sir Ridley Scott (born 30 November 1937) is a British film director and producer. Directing, among others, science fiction films, his work is known for its atmospheric and highly concentrated visual style. Scott has received many accolades throughout his career, including the BAFTA Fellowship for lifetime achievement from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in 2018. Boy And Bicycle
''Boy and Bicycle'' is the first film made by Ridley Scott. The black and white short was made on 16mm film while Scott was a photography student at the Royal College of Art in London in 1962. Although a very early work - Scott would not direct his first feature for another 15 years - the film is significant in that it features a number of visual elements that would become motifs of Scott's work. Shot entirely in West Hartlepool and Seaton Carew the film features the cooling tower and blast furnaces of the local British Steel North Works foreshadowing images in '' Alien'', ''Blade Runner'' and '' Black Rain''. Robert Bushnell Ryan (November 11, 1909 – July 11, 1973) was an American actor and activist. Known for his portrayals of hardened cops and ruthless villains, Ryan performed for over three decades.
