The All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men's basketball team is an annual Atlantic Coast Conference honor bestowed on the best players in the conference following every college basketball In United States colleges, top-tier basketball is governed by collegiate athletic bodies including National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the United States Collegiate Athleti ... season. The selections started in the ACC inaugural season in 1953–54. At the end of the season, ten players were nominated in two teams (first and second team) as the best of the season. Since the 1989–90 season, three teams were nominated, for a total of 15 players. On some occasions (for example, 1997, 2000 and 2006), six players were selected for one of the teams, bringing the number of total selections to 16. Atlantic Coast Conference
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference located in the eastern United States. Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, the ACC's fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I. ACC football teams compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions held in high regard nationally. Lennie Rosenbluth
Leonard Robert Rosenbluth (January 22, 1933 – June 18, 2022) was an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA), but he is remembered, first and foremost, for his college basketball player days. He played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels, where he was Helms Foundation Player of the Year (1957), consensus first-team All-American (1957), second-team All-American – AP, UPI, INS (1956), third-team All-American – NEA, ''Collier's'' (1956), ACC Player of the Year (1957), and 3× first-team All-ACC (1955–1957). Lou Pucillo (born December 10, 1936) is an American former college basketball player for North Carolina State University from 1956 to 1959. Being only 5 foot 9 inches and 155 lbs., he was the smallest player to ever be recruited by Everett Case. As a guard for the Wolfpack he scored 944 points in 74 games. Tommy Kearns
Thomas Francis Kearns Jr. (born October 6, 1936) is an American former professional basketball player. Born in New York City, he played collegiately for the University of North Carolina, where he played an integral role on the 1957 National Championship team. In an effort to rattle the 7-foot 1-inch Wilt Chamberlain of the Kansas Jayhawks in the national championship game, North Carolina coach Frank McGuire sent Kearns out at the start of the game to jump center. Kearns lost the tip-off but scored 11 points during the game. He was named first-team All-ACC in 1957 and 1958 and second-team All-America in 1957. Because of his national accolades, Kearns' number 40 was honored by the University of North Carolina and currently hangs in the rafters of the Dean Smith Center. Peter Joseph Brennan (September 23, 1936 – June 8, 2012) was an American basketball player. He played one season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the New York Knicks.
