Lindsey Petrosh
Lindsey Ann Petrosh (born January 14, 1989) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Egg Harbor City, New Jersey who was named Miss New Jersey 2012. Early life and education Petrosh was born in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. She graduated in 2007 from Saint Joseph High School. She received bachelor's and master's degrees from Rowan University. Pageant career Petrosh participated in her first pageant at age 16. At age 17, she won the title of Miss New Jersey's Outstanding Teen in 2006. She subsequently competed in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant in 2007. Petrosh won the title of Miss New Jersey on June 16, 2012. It was her second attempt at the crown; she had also competed in 2010. Miss America's Outstanding Teen State Pageants
Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageants select the representative for each state for the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant. Although Miss America state pageants used to run unofficial teen competitions, Miss America's Outstanding Teen was the first official teen pageant associated with the Miss America Organization and the first for which there was a national competition. The first national pageant was held in August 2005 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. As this is the teen version of the Miss America pageant, there has never been a swimwear component of the competition: contestants compete in interview, evening wear, active wear, and talent. Miss New Jersey
The Miss New Jersey competition is an annual pageant held to select the representative for the state of New Jersey in the Miss America pageant. Two Miss New Jersey winners have gone on to hold the title of Miss America: Bette Cooper who won in 1937 and Suzette Charles who did not win, but took over the title for the last 7 weeks of Vanessa Williams's reign in 1984. They also have one unofficial Miss America: Dorothy Hann (1932). In the fall of 2018, the Miss America Organization terminated the Miss New Jersey organization's license as well as licenses from Florida, Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Miss America's Outstanding Teen
Miss America's Outstanding Teen is an American scholarship pageant. It is the sister program to the Miss America Organization, and it aims to "promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens." In order to be eligible to compete, participants must first compete and win at the local level and then win the state title. The competition consists of several parts of competition which consists of an eight-minute interview in front of a panel of judges, talent, lifestyle and wellness, evening wear, and an on-stage question. All competitors must be girls between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. More than $113,000 in scholarship grants were distributed among the 51 contestants in the pageant along with $29 Million in in-kind tuition with 7 universities, with a $30,000 scholarship being awarded to the winner. Cara McCollum (February 6, 1992 – February 22, 2016) was an American journalist and lead news anchor for ''SNJ Today'' (which she joined in July 2015). She was Miss New Jersey 2013 and competed for the Miss America 2014 title. Background and education The daughter of Rick and Maureen (née Buckingham) McCollum, both of Forrest City, Arkansas, McCollum attended Forrest City High School, where she was named valedictorian.
