Limann Government
This is a listing of the ministers who served in Limann's People's National Party government during the Third Republic of Ghana. The Third Republic was inaugurated on 24 September 1979. It ended with the coup on 31 December 1981, which brought the Provisional National Defence Council of Jerry Rawlings to power. Hilla Limann
Hilla Limann, (12 December 1934 – 23 January 1998) was a Ghanaian diplomat and politician who served the President of Ghana from 24 September 1979 to 31 December 1981. He served as a diplomat in Lome, Togo and Geneva, Switzerland. Education Limann, whose original last name was Babini, was born in the northern Gold Coast town of Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region to a poor family. He managed to gain an excellent education, and took up a foreign service career. Hilla completed his basic school education at the Government Middle School, Tamale, in 1949. Between 1957 and 1960, he studied Political Science at the London School of Economics. He subsequently completed a Diploma in French at the Sorbonne University, France. He also obtained a BA (Hons) degree in history at the University of London and a Ph.D in Political Science and Constitutional Law at the University of Paris. Minister For Finance And Economic Planning
The Minister for Finance and Economic Planning is the Ghanaian government official responsible for the Ministry of Finance of Ghana. The Minister for Finance since January 2017 has been Ken Ofori-Atta, co-founder and former Chairman of the Databank Group (an investment banking firm) in Ghana. He was appointed by President Akufo-Addo following the Ghanaian general election in December 2016. Kwesi Botchwey stayed in office the longest (1982 to 1995), first under Jerry Rawlings as Secretary for Finance in the PNDC military government and then as Minister for Finance in the constitutionally elected Rawlings government at the beginning of the Fourth Republic and was in charge of the Economic Recovery Programme under the auspices of the World Bank which oversaw major economic reform in Ghana. Nelson Agbesi
Nelson Yawo Avega Agbesi (1939–2016) was a Ghanaian barrister and politician. Early life and education Nelson Agbesi was born on 16 November 1939 at Liati Wote in the then Trans-Volta Togoland and later Gold Coast but now in the Volta Region of Ghana. Between 1956 and 1961, Nelson received his secondary education at Mawuli School where he obtained the GCE Ordinary level and Advanced level. He entered the University of Ghana where he read law. He completed in 1964, graduating with the Bachelor of Arts Honours in Law. He continued to the Ghana Law School which he completed in 1996. He was called to the Bar in October 1966. Law career Agbesi first worked as a junior legal practitioner with Lynes Quarshie Idun and partners between 1966 and 1969. He became the senior partner Ameyi Chambers from 1969 until 1979 when he became a member of parliament. He rejoined the Ameyi Chambers in November 1982. Kwabena Kwakye Anti was a lecturer and a Ghanaian politician. He was a minister of state in the Second Republic of Ghana. Early life and education Kwabena was born on 23 November 1923 at Akim Awisa near Akim Oda in the Eastern Region. His early formative years began at Awisa Presbyterian School and Saltpond English Church Mission School where he completed in 1937. He had his secondary education at Mfantsipim School from 1939 to 1943 and Achimota School from 1945 to 1946. In 1950 he enrolled at University of Leeds and graduated in 1954 with a bachelor of Commerce with emphasis on Local Government. In 1959, he enrolled at the University of Colorado graduating with a master of business administration in 1960.
