''Lights Out'' is the second studio album by American rapper Lil Wayne. It was released on December 19, 2000, by Cash Money Records and Universal Records. The album peaked at number 16 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart. The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Commercial performance ''Lights Out'' debuted at number 24 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart, during on the week of January 6, 2001. The album also debuted at number two on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, becoming Wayne's second top-ten album on that chart. It moved 205,000 units in its debut week. In its second week, the album reached its peak position at number 16 on the chart dated January 13, 2001. As of June 21, 2001, the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000 copies in the United States. Lil Wayne
Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (born September 27, 1982), known professionally as Lil Wayne, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive. His career began in 1995, at the age of 12, when he was signed by rapper Birdman (rapper), Birdman, joining Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label. From then on, Wayne was the flagship artist of Cash Money Records before ending his association with the company in June 2018. Regarded as one of the most influential hip hop artists of his generation by ''XXL (magazine), XXL'', he has often been cited as one of the greatest rappers of all time. Pen & Pixel Graphics, Inc is a Houston, Texas-based graphics design firm that specializes in musical album covers, especially for gangsta rap artists in the Southern United States. For a long time, it was the house design firm for No Limit Records, Cash Money Records, and Suave House Records. The company was started in 1992 by brothers Aaron and Shawn Brauch. The Brauch brothers and their staff worked with over 8,000 clients and completed 19,180 album covers before the company closed its doors in 2003. The brothers cited peer-to-peer file sharing website Napster and the September 11 attacks as reasons for the close; artists were reluctant to fly to Houston to view artwork that listeners would be unlikely to see. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States.
