Liga I (women's Football)
The Liga I is the top level women's football league in Romania. The champion team qualifies for UEFA Women's Champions League. After the fall of communism, organised women's football started to take off, and the founded clubs were distributed into 2 leagues - ''Divizia A'' with 12 teams and ''Divizia B'' with 30 teams grouped into 3 series, following a tournament called ''Cupa Libertății''. In 2006, the league was rebranded as ''Liga I'' along with its male counterparts, since the name ''Divizia A'' was found to already be trademarked. The top league was renamed ''Superliga'' for 4 seasons between the 2013–14 season, when the league-system was restructured, and until the 2016-17 season. Liga II (women's Football)
Liga II is the second level women's association football, women's football league in Romania. A second tier women's football competition was first created in 1990 under the name ''Divizia B''. After the fall of communism, organised women's football started to take off, and the founded clubs were distributed into 2 leagues - ''Divizia A'' with 12 teams and ''Divizia B'' with 30 teams grouped into 3 series, following a tournament called ''Cupa Libertății''. Some time after, the number women's clubs declined, and the division was disbanded. The second-level league was reintroduced starting with the 2013–14 season, when it formally received the name ''Liga I'', following the introduction of ''Superliga'' as the top-tier league. However, as of the 2017–18 season, it was rebranded as ''Liga II'', since the ''Superliga'' brand was quietly dropped altogether. 2012–13 Liga I (women's Football)
The 2012–13 season of the Liga I Feminin was the 23rd season of Romania's premier women's football league. Olimpia Cluj were the defending champions and defended their title. The season was the last named Liga I and prepared the restructuring of the Romanian football pyramid. Next season a second-level league was created. Changes from 2011 to 2012 * 18 teams play in the league, two less than last season. * The league is now played in three divisions instead of two. After a double round robin, i.e. 18 matches per team, the top two teams will move on to play the championship round. * Because of the creation of the new Superliga the third placed teams from each group will play a play-off with the top two qualifying for next season's Superliga. * The fourth to sixth placed teams are divided into two groups that play a round-robin again. 2011–12 Liga I (women's Football)
The 2011–12 season of the Liga I Feminin was the 22nd season of Romania's premier women's football league. The season started on 4 September 2011 and ended on 6 June 2012. Olimpia Cluj were the defending champions and successfully defended their title on the last matchday. Changes from 2010 to 2011 * Seven new clubs entered a team to the league:Independenta Baia Mare, UT Arad, CFR Timișoara, Negrea Resita, Navobi Iasi, CS Viitorul 2010 Buzau and CS Blue Angel Cristian-Brasov. * As the league now has 20 teams it is divided into eastern and western divisions with 10 teams each. After a double round robin, i.e. 18 matches per team, the top two teams will move on to play the championship round. 2010–11 Liga I (women's Football)
The 2010–11 season of the Liga I Feminin was the 21st season of Romania's premier women's football league. The season started on 18 September 2010 and ended on 12 June 2011. Olimpia Cluj won the championship in its first season. Olimpia's striker Cosmina Duşa scored over 100 goals this season. Teams Inter Sibiu and Intercredo Piteşti withdrew form the championship after the end of the last season. New teams entered the first league: Olimpia Cluj, Real Craiova, CS Brazi and FC Nicolae Dobrin. After the first round Smart Sport București withdrew due to financial problems. Another team that withdrew, but after the half season, was FC Nicolae Dobrin. They lost all their remaining matches with 3–0. ASA 2013 Târgu Mureș (feminin)
Asociația Sportivă Ardealul 2013 Târgu Mureș, commonly known as ASA Târgu Mureș or simply as Târgu Mureș, was a Romanian professional football club based in Târgu Mureș, Mureș County, which last played in the Liga II. During its short ten-year history, the team managed several notable domestic performances. Originally founded in 2008 as ''FCM Târgu Mureș'', it changed its name five years later to ASA Târgu Mureș. FC Ripensia 2000 Timișoara was a Romanian women's football team from Timișoara, named after the homonym male club from the interwar period that played in the Romanian top-tier Liga I between 2006 and 2009. History Ripensia was founded in 2006 and it only participated in the Romanian Women's Cup in its first season, since the women's first league had already started.
