''Life Ain't No Joke'' is a mixtape by American hip hop recording artist Lil Durk; hosted by DJ Moondawg and DJ Victoriouz. It was released on October 19, 2012, by his independently record label OTF. The mixtape features guest appearances from French Montana, Soulja Boy and Yo Gotti. As of October 31st, 2022, the mixtape has been downloaded over 259,000 times on DatPiff and is certified platinum. Reception Pitchfork Media's Jordan Sargent noted that Lil Durk, unlike fellow Chicago rappers Chief Keef and Lil Reese, "leans heavily on one under-discussed aspect of drill music: Autotune, and drowning music in it." Sargent remarked that several songs on the mixtape make use of the effect "to no real positive outcome", with the exceptions of "Right Here" and, in particular, "Molly Girl", which he called "one of the tape's clear highlights." Lil Durk
Durk Derrick Banks (born October 19, 1992), known professionally as Lil Durk, is an American rapper and singer. He is the lead member and founder of the collective and record label Only the Family (OTF). Durk garnered a cult following with the release of his ''Signed to the Streets'' mixtape series (2013–2014), which lead to a record deal with Def Jam Recordings. The label would release his debut studio albums, ''Remember My Name (album), Remember My Name'' (2015) and ''Lil Durk 2X'' (2016), before Durk departed Def Jam in 2018. Drill (music Genre)
Drill is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in Chicago streets in the early 2010s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre and lyrically similar to the gangsta rap subgenre. Drill music progressed into the American mainstream circa 2012 following the success of rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, Fredo Santana, G Herbo, Lil Bibby, and King Louie who had many local fans and a significant internet presence alongside producer Young Chop. Only The Family
Only the Family, often abbreviated as OTF, is a rap collective from Chicago, Illinois. The group was formed by rapper Lil Durk in 2010. The group is home to recording artists including the late rapper King Von. Record label The OTF label was part of French Montana's Coke Boys, and as a result, adopted the nickname 'OTF Coke Boys'. Karim Kharbouch (Arabic: æɾiːm χɑɾbuːʃ born November 9, 1984), better known by his stage name French Montana, is a Moroccan-American rapper.
