Licence To Kill (soundtrack)
The soundtrack to ''Licence to Kill'', the 16th Eon Productions James Bond film, was released by MCA Records in 1989. Because the usual James Bond composer John Barry (composer), John Barry (who had scored almost every film from ''From Russia with Love (film), From Russia with Love'' onwards) was not available at the time as he was undergoing throat surgery after suffering a Boerhaave syndrome, rupture of the esophagus in 1988, the soundtrack's more upbeat and suspenseful score was composed and conducted by Michael Kamen. Initially Eric Clapton and Vic Flick were asked to write and perform the theme song to ''Licence to Kill''. The theme was said to have been a new version based on the "James Bond Theme". The guitar riff heard in the original recording of the theme was played by Flick. A track purporting to be the unused Clapton/Flick theme was uploaded to the music sharing website SoundCloud in January 2022 and was later confirmed to be genuine. Michael Kamen
Michael Arnold Kamen (April 15, 1948 – November 18, 2003) was an American composer (especially of film scores), orchestral arranger, orchestral conductor, songwriter, and session musician. Biography Early life Michael Arnold Kamen was born in New York City, the second of four sons. His father, Saul Kamen, was a dentist, and his mother, Helen, was a teacher. He was of Jewish heritage. While attending the High School of Music & Art in New York City, Kamen became friends with Martin Fulterman (later known as Mark Snow), who composed the theme music for ''The X-Files'', among other projects. While studying the oboe, Kamen formed a rock- classical fusion band called New York Rock & Roll Ensemble, together with classmates Fulterman and Dorian Rudnytsky, along with Clifton Nivison and Brian Corrigan of Toms River, New Jersey. Maurice Binder
Maurice Binder (December 4, 1918 – April 9, 1991) was an American film title designer best known for his work on 16 James Bond films including the first, '' Dr. No'' (1962) and for Stanley Donen's films from 1958. Early work He was born in New York City, but mostly worked in Britain from the 1950s onwards. In 1951, Binder directed two short films in the obscure ''Meet Mister Baby'' series; these films were preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2015. He did his first film title design for Stanley Donen's '' Indiscreet'' (1958). The Bond producers first approached him after being impressed by his title designs for the Donen comedy film '' The Grass Is Greener'' (1960). Daniel Kleinman (born 23 December 1955) is a British television commercial and music video director who has designed every title sequence for the ''James Bond'' series of films since '' GoldenEye'' (1995), with the exception of ''Quantum of Solace'' (2008) (which was designed by the filmmaking and design collective MK12). Walter Afanasieff (born Vladimir Nikitich Afanasyev; February 10, 1958), formerly nicknamed Baby Love in the 1980s, is an American record producer and songwriter of Russian-Chinese descent. He was a collaborator with Mariah Carey on her first six studio albums. Narada Michael Walden ( ; Michael Walden; born April 23, 1952) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He acquired the nickname Narada from Sri Chinmoy.
