Liberty Party (United States, 1840)
The Liberty Party was a minor political party in the United States in the 1840s (with some offshoots surviving into the 1860s). The party was an early advocate of the Abolitionism in the United States, abolitionist cause and it broke away from the American Anti-Slavery Society (AASS) to advocate the view that the United States Constitution, Constitution was an anti-slavery document. William Lloyd Garrison, leader of the AASS, held the contrary view, that the Constitution should be condemned as an evil pro-slavery document. The party included abolitionists who were willing to work within electoral politics to try to influence people to support their goals. By contrast, the radical Garrison opposed voting and working within the system. Liberty Party (United States, 1932)
The Liberty Party was a minor political party in the United States in the 1930s, based on the economic theories of W.H. "Coin" Harvey (1851–1936) (found mainly in his book, ''The Book''). Harvey was initially its 1932 presidential candidate, and they held their convention at his resort, Monte Ne. However, the Liberty Party ended up merging with the Jobless Party, and Harvey ran for president as an independent. The Christian Liberty Party is a minor third political party in the United States whose platform advocates social conservatism. Its platform positions include the opposition to abortion, as well as opposition to property taxes; it advocates "an educational system that respects individual freedom of conscience and reinforces the Biblical role and responsibility of the family as the educator of youth". Liberty (Poland)
The New Hope (, NN), previously known as Confederation for the Renewal of the Republic Liberty and Hope (, KORWiN/Liberty), is a right-wing populist political party in Poland. It is currently led by Sławomir Mentzen. It was founded in 2015 by Korwin-Mikke as a result of his removal from Congress of the New Right, his former party. Among the party's other members are Przemysław Wipler, who held a seat in the Polish Sejm and Robert Iwaszkiewicz, Member of the European Parliament. The party's Polish name was originally a backronym of the founder's name Korwin-Mikke, who took part in the 2015 presidential election. Liberty Party (Liberia)
The Liberty Party (LP) is a political party in Liberia. It first fielded candidates in the 2005 elections. Its candidate Charles Brumskine placed third in the presidential poll, winning 13.9% of the vote. The party won of the half up for election seats in the Senate and nine in the House of Representatives. In October 2010, the party was set for a coalition with the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), the largest party in the Legislature. The deal would have seen the two field a single list of candidates and presidential candidate in the next year's elections; a shared leadership of Brumskine and the CDC's standard-bearer, George Weah. Liberty Party ( tr, Hürriyet Partisi) was a former political party in Turkey founded in 1955. Background Democrat Party (DP) won the 1950 elections and ended the one party era of Turkey. DP, being a moderately right wing party had promised a freer press and wider scope of basic liberties during the election campaign. But following the 1950 and 1954 victories, the press was disappointed. Because DP government refused to expand press freedom and the press faced the threat of censorship. However the decision of the government was not shared by all parliament members of DP and 11 MPs proposed a law to expand the press freedom in 1955. But the reaction of the party leaders was harsh and the 9 MPs were expelled from the party. The Liberty Korea Party () was a conservative political party in South Korea that was described variously as right-wing, right-wing populist, or far-right. Until February 2017, it was known as the Saenuri Party (), and before that as the Hannara Party () from 1997 to 2012, both of which are still colloquially used to refer to the party.
