Li Wei Resigns From Office
''Li Wei Resigns from Office'' is a 2005 Chinese television historical drama and the last of the Li Wei trilogy, after '' Li Wei the Magistrate'' (2001) and ''Li Wei the Magistrate II'' (2004). It was written by Yuyue, the same writer as the 2001 (and the better-received) series. In ''Li Wei Resigns from Office'', the Yongzheng Emperor had died as his son, the Qianlong Emperor, succeeded the throne. As a result, all actors from the first 2 series were replaced by older actors, but some fictional characters from the first 2 series were still kept. Veteran Hong Kong actor Paul Chun stars as an older Li Wei. Filming began in Jinzhong, Shanxi in October 2004. It was first broadcast in Taiwan on China Television in November 2005. Paul Chun (; born 26 June 1945) is a Hong Kong actor. He has appeared in more than 130 films and television series since 1949. Empress Xiaoxianchun
Empress Xiaoxianchun (28 March 1712 – 8 April 1748), of the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner Fuca clan, was a posthumous name bestowed to the wife and first empress consort of Hongli, the Qianlong Emperor. Fuheng
Fuheng (; ; my, ဖူဟင်း; 1720 – July 1770), courtesy name Chunhe (春和), was a Qing Dynasty official from the Manchu Fuca clan and the Bordered Yellow Banner of the Eight Banners, and was a younger brother of the Empress Xiaoxianchun. He served as a senior minister at the court of his brother-in-law, the Qianlong Emperor from the 1750s to his death in 1770. He is best known for leading the Qing troops in the fourth and last invasion of Burma in the Sino-Burmese War (1765–1769). Prior to his appointment as the commander-in-chief of the Burma campaign, Fuheng was chief grand councilor to the emperor, and one of the emperor's most trusted advisers. Empress Xiaoshengxian
Empress Xiaoshengxian (12 January 1692 – 2 March 1777), of the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner Niohuru clan, was a posthumous name bestowed to the consort of Yinzhen, the Yongzheng Emperor and mother of Hongli, the Qianlong Emperor. She was honoured as Empress Dowager Chongqing during the reign of her son and posthumously honoured as empress, although she never held the rank of empress consort during her lifetime. When the empress seat was vacant after Empress Xiaojingxian of the Ulanara clan's death, she was placed in charge of the imperial harem as the highest ranked concubine in that time. The Qianlong Emperor held her in high regard and often consulted her for advice. She died in 1777 and outlived many of her son's consorts. Li Wei (Qing Dynasty)
Li Wei (; Styled Youjie (), posthumous name Minda (); February 2, 1687 – December 3, 1738) was a Qing dynasty mandarin who lived during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor (1722–1735). He served the Yongzheng emperor, helped implement his reforms, and held various regional governing positions. During Yongzheng's reign, Li Wei helped crush Ming dynasty loyalists. Li also implemented a tax reform that was unpopular with landowners. Biography Li was a native of Tongshan, Jiangnan (present-day Feng County, Jiangsu), and was orphaned at the age of 10. He was not literate, but practiced martial arts. He entered the Board of Finance as a regular accountant in 1719, then headed a department on the board.
