Li Dan (; ; born 12 May 1986 in Jilin) is a Chinese speed-skater. Li competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for China. In the 1000 metres she placed 34th. As of September 2014, Li's best performance at the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships is 21st, in 2014. Li made her World Cup debut in December 2002. The women's 1000 metres speed skating competition of the 2014 Sochi Olympics was held at Adler Arena Skating Center on 13 February 2014. Qualification A total of thirty-six speed skaters could qualify for this distance, with a maximum of four skaters per country. The top 20 of the 2013–14 ISU Speed Skating World Cup – Women's 1000 metres standings after the fourth World Cup race in Berlin secured a spot for their country. World Sprint Speed Skating Championships
The World Sprint Speed Skating Championships are annual speed skating championships. The championships are held over a two-day period, with the skaters racing one 500 m and one 1,000 m each day. Since the higher speeds towards the end of the race tend to favour the skater who skates the last outer lane, each skater starts both distances once in the inner lane and once in the outer lane. The times on those distances are then converted to points using the samalog system, and the skaters are then ranked according to the fewest points. The International Skating Union has organised the World Sprint Championships for Men and the World Sprint Championships for Women since 1970 and both are held at the same time and venue. The first two years (1970-1971), they were called the ''ISU Sprint Championships''. The 2014 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships, officially the ''Essent ISU World Sprint Speed Skating Championships 2014'', were held in Nagano, Japan, from 18 to 19 January 2014. The ISU Speed Skating World Cup is a series of international speed skating competitions, organised annually by the International Skating Union since the winter of 1985–86 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, 1985–86. Every year during the winter season, a number of competitions on different distances and on different locations are held. Skaters can earn points at each competition, and the skater who has the most points on a given distance at the end of the series is the winner.
