Leyenda De Plata (1998)
The ''Leyenda de Plata'' (1998) was professional wrestling tournament produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLLl; Spanish "World Wrestling Council") that ran from July 24, 1998, over the course of two of CMLL's Friday night shows in Arena México with the finals on July 31, 1998. The annual ''Leyenda de Plata'' tournament is held in honor of lucha libre legend El Santo and is one of CMLL's most important annual tournaments. The first ever ''Leyenda de Plata'' tournament was held to commemorate the 15 year anniversary of El Santo's death in 1983. Unlike later tournaments there was no final match against the previous winner, instead El Santo's son, El Hijo del Santo, faced the winner of the ''Cibernetico'' to determine the first winner. Pantera (wrestler)
Francisco Javier Pozas (born February 3, 1964) is a Mexican professional wrestler, or luchador, who is best known under the ring name El Pantera, but has also worked as Pantera II, El Manaya, América, Tritón and TANAKA over the years. Pozas made his wrestling debut in 1985, working as an '' enmascarado'' (masked wrestler) with a panther-inspired mask to go with his ring character of "El Pantera". Negro Casas
José Casas Ruiz (born January 10, 1960) is a Mexican professional wrestler (called a '' Luchador'' in Spanish) and trainer working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the ring name Negro Casas. He is the son of former wrestler turned referee Pepe Casas, and part of the large Casas wrestling family; brother of professional wrestlers El Felino and Heavy Metal and uncle of Puma, Tiger, Canelo Casas, Rocky Casas, Danny Casas and many more. Professional Wrestling Promotion
A professional wrestling promotion is a company or business that regularly performs shows involving professional wrestling that has little relationship to the rules of the amateur olympic form. "Promotion" also describes a role which entails management, advertising and logistics of running a wrestling event (''see promoter''). Within the convention of the show, the company is a sports governing body which sanctions wrestling matches and gives authority to the championships and is responsible for maintaining the divisions and their rankings. Lucha Libre
Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. Blas Columba (born December 10, 1968 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico) is a retired Mexican '' luchador'' or professional wrestler, best known under the ring name Violencia (Spanish for "Violence") and has previously also worked under the ring names Águila Real ("Royal Eagle"), Rey Águila ("King Eagle") and Lynx. José Gutiérrez Hernández (born March 1, 1972), better known by his ring name Último Guerrero (Spanish for ''Last Warrior''), is a Mexican (or professional wrestler), who works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He is not related to the ''lucha libre'' legend Gory Guerrero or any of his children; "Guerrero" in this case is the Spanish word for warrior and not the surname of the character. Jesus Toral López (born January 7, 1969) is a luchador or professional wrestler who has worked almost exclusively in Mexico. López has achieved most success under the ring name Black Warrior. He is best known for his work for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) between 1995 and 2013. Over the years Black Warrior has played both the rúdo (the Spanish term used for the villains in wrestling) and técnico (the Spanish term used for the good guys in wrestling). César Baltazar de Lucio Valencia (born October 21, 1970) is a semi-retired Mexican ''Luchador'', or professional wrestler best known under the ring name Karloff Lagarde Jr. Despite what his ring name might suggest, he is not the son of Karloff Lagarde, but his nephew.
