Letterkenny ( ga, Leitir Ceanainn , meaning 'hillside of the O'Cannons'), nicknamed 'the Cathedral Town', is the largest and most populous town in County Donegal, a county in Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. Letterkenny lies on the River Swilly in East Donegal in the north-west of Ulster, and has a population of 19,274. It is the 36th largest settlement in all of Ireland by population (placing it ahead of Sligo, Larne, Banbridge, Armagh and Killarney), and is the 15th largest settlement by population in the province of Ulster (most of which comprises the separate jurisdiction of modern-day Northern Ireland). Along with the nearby city of Derry, Letterkenny is considered a regional economic gateway for the north-west of Ireland. ''Letterkenny'' is a Canadian sitcom created by Jared Keeso, developed and written primarily by Keeso and Jacob Tierney, directed by Tierney, and starring Keeso, Nathan Dales, Michelle Mylett, and K. Trevor Wilson. Originally a YouTube web series called ''Letterkenny Problems'', the show was commissioned for television by Crave in March 2015 and premiered in February 2016. The show follows the adventures of people residing in the fictional town of Letterkenny, a rural community in Ontario, Canada. ''Letterkenny'' is distributed by Hulu in the United States, with the first two seasons debuting in July 2018. Subsequent seasons were added on December 27, 2018. Letterkenny Township is a township that is located in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,462 at the time of the 2020 census, up from 2,074 at the 2000 census. History The township is named after Letterkenny in County Donegal, Ireland. The Horse Valley Bridge, Rocky Spring Presbyterian Church, and Skinner Tavern are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography The township is located in north-central Franklin County. The eastern half of the township is situated in the Great Appalachian Valley, while the western half is occupied by the eastern two ridges of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians. Broad Mountain and Blue Mountain form the easternmost ridge, while Blue Mountain forms the western town border. Letterkenny Army Depot (originally Letterkenny Ordnance Depot), the Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence (CITE) for Air Defense and Tactical Missile Systems, was established in 1942. The Depot is under the command structure of the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM). The facilities at Letterkenny are used to conduct maintenance, modification, storage, and demilitarization operations on tactical missiles and ammunition. Located primarily in Letterkenny Township and extending into Greene Township and Hamilton Township, all in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, just northwest of the borough of Chambersburg, the Depot consists of nearly 18,000 acres (71 km²).
