Letitia de Jong (born 5 March 1993) is a Dutch former speed skater who specialized in the sprint distances. Career In January 2018 she won the silver medal at the team sprint event of the 2018 European Championships in Kolomna, Russia, partnering Mayon Kuipers and Sanneke de Neeling. That same month she won the national title at the KNSB Dutch Sprint Championships. This result qualified her for the 2018 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships in Changchun Changchun (, ; ), also romanized as Ch'angch'un, is the capital and largest city of Jilin Province, People's Republic of China. Feanwâlden
Feanwâlden ( nl, Veenwouden) is a village in the Dantumadiel municipality of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 3,430 in 2014. Together with the village of Feanwâldsterwâl, a former hamlet of Feanwâlden, it has a village interest association group under the name: ''Vereniging van Dorpsbelangen Veenwouden / Veenwoudsterwal e.o.''. Omrop Fryslân is a broadcaster on the NPO which serves the Frisian community. World Junior Speed Skating Championships
In 1971, the ISU congress decided to hold a World Junior Speed Skating Championships. After two test-championships (1972 and 1973), where only a boys' competition was held in the 1972 edition, the first official championship was introduced in Cortina d'Ampezzo. In this championship boys and girls could enter. Since this championship the World Junior Speed Skating Championships are held every year. The distances the boys have to skate in a championship were the 500m, 1500m, 3000m, and the 5000m. In 2015 the 1000 metres replaced the 3000m as part of the allround competition. Girls have the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and the 3000m on the programme. In 2002 the team pursuit was added to the allround competition and the 2009 edition saw the introduction of medals for the individual distances. The World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships are a series of speed skating competitions organised by the International Skating Union. History Since the late 19th century, speed skating championships were always decided by racing multiple distances – four different distances for the Allround Championships, and two different distances (which have to be skated twice) for Sprint Championships. However, the speed skating events at the Olympic Games were always individual distances, no medals are awarded for a combined event (the only exception being the 1924 Winter Olympics). The ISU Speed Skating World Cup is a series of international speed skating competitions, organised annually by the International Skating Union since the winter of 1985–86 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, 1985–86. Every year during the winter season, a number of competitions on different distances and on different locations are held. Skaters can earn points at each competition, and the skater who has the most points on a given distance at the end of the series is the winner. Initially not very popular with skaters nor spectators, the World Cup has gradually become more and more popular, and this was due to the creation of the World Single Distance Championships. The Dutch Single Distance Championships of speed skating, organised by the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Schaatsenrijders Bond, KNSB, is the official Netherlands, Dutch championship to determine the Dutch champion over a single distance, in contrast to the KNSB Dutch Allround Championships, which determine the Dutch samalog, allround champion. Jutta Leerdam (born 30 December 1998) is a Dutch speed skater specializing in the sprint events. Career Leerdam became the junior world champion at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Helsinki, Finland. The following year, at the 2018 Championships in Salt Lake City, United States, she finished second behind compatriot Joy Beune. During the 2017–18 season, she won the ISU Junior World Cup competition in the 1000m and 1500m events. She also became the Dutch junior sprint champion. In 2018, she turned professional and became a member of Team IKO.
