Let's Spend The Night Together (film)
''Let's Spend the Night Together'' is a live concert film, documenting the Rolling Stones' Rolling Stones American Tour 1981, 1981 North American Tour. It was directed by Hal Ashby, and released to cinemas on Friday, February 11, 1983. It was subsequently released on VHS,Betamax,Laserdisc,VHD and CED Videodisc. It was released in New Zealand and Australia with the alternative title ''Time Is on Our Side'' on VHS and is currently available on DVD in Japan, Australia and New Zealand (as L.S.T.N.T from Studio Canal/Universal). It was filmed at the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey (5–6 November 1981) and at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona (13 December 1981). The film was released as ''Rocks Off'' in Germany in 1982 with slightly different footage and the additional song "When the Whip Comes Down" (following "Under My Thumb") from Sun Devil Stadium. Hal Ashby
William Hal Ashby (September 2, 1929 – December 27, 1988) was an American film director and editor associated with the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking. Before his career as a director Ashby edited films for Norman Jewison, notably ''The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming'' (1966), which earned Ashby an Oscar nomination for Best Editing, and '' In the Heat of the Night'' (1967), which earned him his only Oscar for the same category. Ashby received a third Oscar nomination, this time for Best Director for '' Coming Home'' (1978). Other films directed by Ashby include ''The Landlord'' (1970), ''Harold and Maude'' (1971), ''The Last Detail'' (1973), ''Shampoo'' (1975), '' Bound for Glory'' (1976), and ''Being There'' (1979). Twenty Flight Rock
"Twenty Flight Rock" is a song originally performed by Eddie Cochran in the 1956 film comedy ''The Girl Can't Help It'', and released as a single the following year. The song was published in 1957 as written by Ned Fairchild and Eddie Cochran, by American Music Incorporated and Campbell, Connelly and Company. Cochran's contribution was primarily on the music. His version is rockabilly-flavored, but artists of a variety of genres have covered the song. Background The first version of "Twenty Flight Rock" was recorded by Cochran in July 1956 at Gold Star Studios, with Connie Smith on the bull fiddle and Jerry Capehart thumping a soup carton. Cochran re-recorded the song sometime between May to August 1957. This later version was released in the United States (Liberty 55112) with " Cradle Baby" as a flipside. Start Me Up
"Start Me Up" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones from their 1981 album ''Tattoo You''. Released as the album's lead single, it reached number one on Australian Kent Music Report, number two in Canada, number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, number seven on the UK Singles Chart, and the top ten in a handful of European countries north of the Alps. Writing and recording The basic track "Start Me Up" was recorded during the January and March 1978 sessions for the Rolling Stones' album ''Some Girls''. The song began as a reggae-rock track named "Never Stop", but after dozens of takes it was abandoned. "Start Me Up" was not chosen for the album and was saved for later use. Richards commented: In 1981, with the band looking to tour, engineer Chris Kimsey proposed to lead singer Mick Jagger that archived songs could comprise the set. Let It Bleed (song)
"Let It Bleed" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. It was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and is featured on the 1969 album of the same name, the first example of a Rolling Stones title track. It was released as a single in Japan in February 1970. Composition The song opens with a slide piece and quickly moves into a solo acoustic guitar capo on the 3rd fret strumming the chords of A, D and E before bass, drums and piano join in, respectively. Wyman's autoharp can be heard somewhat faintly during the first verse with noticeable 'ping' sounds coming from it around the 0:40-0:50 mark but it is mostly inaudible throughout the track after the 0:55 ('she said my breasts') minute mark. Hang fire refers to an unexpected delay between the triggering of a firearm and the ignition of the propellant. This failure was common in firearm actions that relied on open primer pans, due to the poor or inconsistent quality of the powder. Modern firearms are also susceptible. Little T&A
"Little T&A" is the fourth song on the English rock and roll band the Rolling Stones' 1981 album ''Tattoo You''. The song is sung by guitarist Keith Richards. It was the B-Side of their single "Waiting on a Friend". Credited to usual Stones' writers Mick Jagger and Richards, "Little T&A" was largely a Richards composition. He originally began writing the song in the early months of 1979 with the intention of having the song featured on 1980s ''Emotional Rescue''. Left off that album, it re-emerged for ''Tattoo You'' just two years later. The Stones began reworking the track in mid-1981. "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones on their 1969 album ''Let It Bleed''. "Going to a Go-Go" is a 1965 single recorded by The Miracles for Motown's Tamla label. The Miracles' original version Smokey Robinson sings lead on "Going to a Go-Go", which he co-wrote with fellow Miracles Pete Moore, Bobby Rogers, and Marv Tarplin. Moore, Rogers, Ronnie White, and Smokey Robinson's wife Claudette Robinson provide backing vocals for the song, an up-tempo dance song inviting people of all walk of life to attend a go-go party.
