''Let's Get Married'' is a 1937 American comedy film directed by Alfred E. Green and starring Ida Lupino, who plays the daughter of a political consultant, Joe Quinn (Walter Connolly). It was produced and distributed by Columbia Pictures. Robert (Tex) Allen
Robert Allen (born Irvine E. Theodore Baehr, March 28, 1906 – October 9, 1998), was an American actor in both feature films and B-movie westerns between 1935 and 1944. Biography Allen was born in Mount Vernon, New York and graduated from the New York Military Academy in 1924, where he rode in the academy cavalry. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1929 with a degree in English. In vacations he had driven a truck as a labourer. He worked for a bank which soon failed in the Great Depression. He flew briefly with the Curtis Flying service as a commercial pilot. He first came to the screen in 1926 before signing a standard acting contract with Paramount Pictures, in 1929. He appeared in the Marx Brothers movie ''Animal Crackers'' and several other small parts. Then, he signed with Columbia Pictures in 1935. He also later contracted with 20th Century Fox. American comedy films are comedy films produced in the United States. The genre is one of the oldest in American cinema; some of the first silent movies were comedies, as slapstick comedy often relies on visual depictions, without requiring sound. Granville Bates (January 7, 1882 – July 8, 1940) was an American character actor and bit player, appearing in over ninety films. Biography Bates was born in Chicago in 1882 to Granville Bates, Sr., a developer and builder, and Adaline Bates (née Gleason). He grew up in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago on the southeast corner of Evanston (now Broadway) Ave. and Oakdale Ave. in a townhouse that his father later demolished, along with all of the others on the block, to redevelop as a four-story commercial building with apartments above. Bates began his film career in the 1910s with Essanay Studios of the Chicago film industry, and his World War I draft Registration Card listed him as a travelling actor for Francis Owen & Co. Charles Emmett Vogan (September 27, 1893 – October 6, 1969) was an American actor with almost 500 film appearances from 1934 to 1954, making him, along with Bess Flowers, one of the most prolific film actors of all time. In 1913, Vogan acted with the Allen and Kenna Musical Comedy Company. In 1917, he was the male lead in a touring company that presented ''The Four Husbands''. He also was the male lead in the touring production of ''Too Much Mustard'' (1924). Vogan also acted with the Anderson Players, the Wilkes Players, and the O.D. Edward McWade (January 14, 1865 – May 17, 1943) was a writer, stage actor and an American film actor. Biography McWade was born in Washington, D.C., on January 14, 1865. His father was notable stage actor Robert McWade Sr. (1835-1913) and his younger brother was character actor Robert McWade Jr. On September 4, 1897, McWade married actress Margaret May Fish. They performed in a number of stage and film productions together both before and after they were married. McWade appeared in more than 130 films between 1919 and 1944, mostly in secondary roles. He also wrote 15 stage plays and silent films scripts between 1897 and 1914. McWade died in Los Angeles, California.
