Les P'tites Michu
''Les p'tites Michu'' (The Little Michus) is an opérette in three acts, with music by André Messager and words by Albert Vanloo and Georges Duval (journalist), Georges Duval. The piece is set in Paris in the years following the French Revolution and depicts the complications ensuing after the identities of two girls become confused in their infancy. The opera opened at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens, Paris, on 16 November 1897 and ran for more than 150 performances. It became an international success, with productions in four continents, including an unusually long run of 400 performances in London, and had subsequent revivals in Paris. Jean Périer
Jean (Alexis) Périer (2 February 1869 – 3 November 1954) was a French operatic baryton-martin and actor. Although he sang principally within the operetta repertoire, Périer did portray a number of opera roles; mostly within operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giacomo Puccini. His career was almost entirely centered in Paris and he had a long association with the Opéra-Comique. He sang in a large number of world premieres, most notably originating the role of Pelléas in Debussy's '' Pelléas et Mélisande'' in 1902. Maurice Lamy or M. Lamy was the stage name of the French actor and singer Maurice Castarède (1863 – 1930). He came from a theatrical family but began as a violinist before becoming an actor. Among the leading roles he created were Aristide in André Messager's ''Les p'tites Michu'' (1897), Loustot in Messager's '' Véronique'' (1898) and Le Taupier, the wizard, in Charles Lecocq's ''La Belle au bois dormant'' (1900). Life and career Lamy was born in Lyon to a theatrical family. His father was a theatre manager and his elder brother Charles became an actor.
