''Lepidocollema wainioi'' is a species of lichen in the family Pannariaceae. It is known from southeast Asia. Taxonomy This lichen was originally formally described by Finnish lichenologist Edvard August Wainio as ''Pannaria sorediata'', based on material collected from the Philippines. However, Wainio was unaware that this name had already been used for another taxon by Charles Knight in 1882, and so the name ''Pannaria sorediata'' was an illegitimate homonym, and therefore, not validly published. Austrian botanist Alexander Zahlbruckner, in his 1925 work ''Catalogus Lichenum Universalis'', renamed the lichen in honour of Wainio, and it then became known as ''Pannaria wainioi'' . Per Magnus Jørgensen transferred the species to the genus ''Parmeliella'' in 2003. In 2014, the family Pannariaceae was revised with the aid of modern molecular phylogenetics, and ''Parmeliella wainioi'' was one of 23 tropical species transferred into the formerly monotypic genus ''Lepidocoll ...

''Lepidocollema'' is a genus of lichens in the family Pannariaceae. It was circumscribed in 1890 to contain a single Brazilian species that has not been collected since. In 2016, the entire family was revised and updated, resulting in the expansion of ''Lepidocollema'' to 24 tropical species. Taxonomay ''Lepidocollema'' was originally circumscribed in 1890 by Finnish lichenologist Edvard August Vainio with only the type species, '' L. carassense''. This lichen is a gelatinous ''Parmeliella''-like species that has a photobiont from the genus ''Nostoc''. It has only been collected once from Brazil. The family Pannariaceae was revised in 2014 with the help of molecular phylogenetics. MycoBank
MycoBank is an online database, documenting new mycological names and combinations, eventually combined with descriptions and illustrations. It is run by the Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute in Utrecht. Each novelty, after being screened by nomenclatural experts and found in accordance with the ICN ( International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants), is allocated a unique MycoBank number before the new name has been validly published. This number then can be cited by the naming author in the publication where the new name is being introduced. Only then, this unique number becomes public in the database. ''Avicennia'' is a genus of flowering plants currently placed in the bear's breeches family, Acanthaceae. It contains mangrove trees, which occur in the intertidal zones of estuarine areas and are characterized by its "pencil roots", which are aerial roots. Ko Kut ( th, เกาะกูด, ) is a district (''amphoe'') of Trat province, eastern Thailand, consisting of a group of islands. In lichens, rhizines are multicellular root-like structures, arising mostly from the lower surface. A lichen with rhizines is termed rhizinate, while a lichen lacking rhizines is termed erhizinate. Rhizines serve only to anchor the lichen to their substrate; they do not absorb nutrients as do plant roots.
