Lenham railway station serves Lenham in Kent, England. It is down the line from . The station, and all trains serving it, is operated by Southeastern. History Lenham station opened on 1 July 1884 as part of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway's extension of the line from Maidstone to . The goods yard comprised four sidings on the down side and one on the up side. One of the down sidings served a goods shed, which was used by the Morello Cheery Works and a local bacon factory. In 1961, loops were installed in both directions. Freight facilities were withdrawn on 6 January 1969. Although a new signal box was provided in 1961, it closed on 28 May 1984. A new footbridge replaced the life-expired concrete footbridge spanning the tracks here, completed in early 2010. Lenham
Lenham is a market village and civil parish in Kent situated on the southern edge of the North Downs, east of Maidstone. The picturesque square in the village has two public houses (one of which is a hotel), a couple of restaurants, and a tea-room. Lenham has a population of 3,370 according to the 2011 Census. Lenham railway station is on the Maidstone East Line. The Borough of Maidstone is a local government district with borough status in Kent, England. Its administrative centre is Maidstone, the county town of Kent.
