Lena Belkina
Lena Belkina (born 27 November 1987) is a Ukrainian mezzo-soprano. Career Belkina studied at the Kyiv and Leipzig conservatories. From 2009 to 2012, she was a member of the Leipzig Opera, where she worked with P. Konwitschny in '' Eugene Onegin'' and '' Elektra'' and as Flora in ''La traviata'' and Zaida in ''Il turco in Italia''. In 2010, she sang the opening concert of the Handel Festival Halle and made her debut at the Konzerthaus, Vienna in Meyerbeer's ''Emma di Resburgo''. As part of the YSP 2010, Salzburg Festival, during ''Orfeo'', she worked together with conductors such as Riccardo Muti and Ivor Bolton. Under Omer Meir Wellber she sang Olga in a UNITEL recording of ''Eugene Onegin'' at the Palau de les Arts, Valencia, and sang at oratorios and recitals in Leipzig, Frankfurt, Munich and Kyiv. Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera (, ) is an opera house and opera company based in Vienna, Austria. The 1,709-seat Renaissance Revival venue was the first major building on the Vienna Ring Road. It was built from 1861 to 1869 following plans by August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, and designs by Josef Hlávka. The opera house was inaugurated as the "Vienna Court Opera" (''Wiener Hofoper'') in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria. It became known by its current name after the establishment of the First Austrian Republic in 1921. Giacomo Meyerbeer
Giacomo Meyerbeer (born Jakob Liebmann Beer; 5 September 1791 – 2 May 1864) was a German opera composer, "the most frequently performed opera composer during the nineteenth century, linking Mozart and Wagner". With his 1831 opera ''Robert le diable'' and its successors, he gave the genre of grand opera 'decisive character'. Meyerbeer's grand opera style was achieved by his merging of German orchestra style with Italian vocal tradition. Alessandro De Marchi (born 1962) is an Italian conductor, best known for his interpretation of baroque oratorios and operas, as leader of the Academia Montis Regalis orchestra, and director of the orchestra's foundation in Mondovì, ''Mons Regalis,'' one of the oldest towns of Piedmont. Tomáš Netopil (born 18 July 1975 in Přerov) is a Czech conductor. He conducted the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005 and made his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in May 2006. In 2006, he also conducted at the Salzburg Festival and l'Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma. (''Songs on the Death of Children'') is a song cycle (1904) for voice and orchestra by Gustav Mahler. The words of the songs are poems by Friedrich Rückert. Text and music The original were a group of 428 poems written by Rückert in 1833–34 in an outpouring of grief following the illness (scarlet fever) and death of two of his children. Karen Painter describes the poems thus: "Rückert's 428 poems on the death of children became singular, almost manic documents of the psychological endeavor to cope with such loss. In ever new variations Rückert's poems attempt a poetic resuscitation of the children that is punctuated by anguished outbursts.
