Leka, Crown Prince Of Albania
Leka, Crown Prince of Albania (also known as ''King Leka I''; 5 April 193930 November 2011), was the only son of King Zog I and Queen Geraldine of Albania. He was called Crown Prince Skander at birth. Leka was the pretender to the Albanian throne and was referred to as King Leka I. Biography Early life and education Leka was born on April 5, 1939, in the Royal Palace of Tirana in the Kingdom of Albania. He was named Crown Prince Skander and his birth was celebrated with a 101-gun salute and a military parade. Leka was the son of King Zog I of Albania and Queen Geraldine of Albania; and was also an eighth cousin of U.S. President Richard Nixon through his maternal grandmother, a New York socialite. Leka is the main island in Leka municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island makes up about half of the area of the municipality of Leka. The island is surrounded by dozens of smaller islands. The smaller island of Madsøya lies south of Leka, and it is connected to Leka by a short bridge. The larger island of Austra lies about east of Leka. There is a ferry connection between Leka and Austra, and Austra is connected to the mainland by a bridge. The village of Leknes is the administrative centre of Leka municipality and it is located on the northeast part of the island. The Leka Church is located on the island as well. The mountain Lekamøya lies on the southern part of the island. History The island has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years, as evidenced by cave drawings in the Solsem section of the island. Other villages in Leka include Sør-Gutvika and Madsøygrenda. Lockenhaus ( hu, Léka; hr, Livka) is a town in the district of Oberpullendorf in the Austrian state of Burgenland. The town is well known for the annual Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival founded by violinist Gidon Kremer. History The town was (like the whole Burgenland until 1920/21) part of Hungary since the foundation of the kingdom in the year 1000. After World War I "Deutsch-Westungarn" (the Burgenland) became part of Austria when the Treaty of Trianon deprived Hungary of about 70% of the territory which it had held for more than nine centuries. The actor Ludwig Stossel was born in Lockenhaus in 1883 and after emigrating to America appeared in a number of Hollywood films including Casablanca. Members of the Stossel family were part of a Jewish community in the village which existed until 1938. Paul Leka (February 20, 1943 – October 12, 2011) was an American songwriter, record producer, pianist, arranger, and orchestrator, most notable for co-writing the 1960s hits "Green Tambourine" and "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", the latter of which has become a standard song at sporting events. Leka, Prince of Albania (''Leka Anwar Zog Reza Baudouin Msiziwe Zogu'', born 26 March 1982) is a claimant to the throne of Albania and the head of the House of Zogu. At the time of his birth on 26 March 1982, the South African government, by order of Prime Minister P. W. Botha, declared his maternity ward extraterritorial land, so as to ensure that Leka was born on Albanian soil. Leka is the only child of Leka, Crown Prince of Albania and his wife Susan, Crown Princess of Albania. Lekë Dushmani
Lekë Dushmani was an Albanian nobleman and one of the founding members of League of Lezhë, formed on 2 March 1444. Life A member of the Dushmani family he ruled over the region of Zadrima, in modern Shkodër District. In Venetian documents he is also mentioned along with his relative Damian as lord of Pult in 1446. Leka joined the League of Lezhë, an alliance formed by their maternal uncle Skanderbeg, after meeting in the St. Nicholas Church in Lezhë on March 2, 1444. The other members included Lekë Zaharia, Peter Spani, Andrea Thopia, Gjergj Arianiti, Theodor Korona Muzaka, Stefan Crnojević, George Strez Balsha, and their subjects. Skanderbeg was elected its leader, and commander in chief of its armed forces numbering a total of 8,000 warriors. His descendants include among others Antonio, Sofoklis and Viktor Dousmanis.
