Legislative Districts Of Cagayan De Oro
The legislative districts of Cagayan de Oro are the representations of the highly urbanized city of Cagayan de Oro in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first and second congressional districts. History Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Cagayan de Oro were represented under the historical Misamis Province (1907–1931), Misamis Oriental (1931–1969) and Region X (1978–1984). By virtue of being classified as a highly urbanized city on November 22, 1983, Cagayan de Oro was granted separate representation for the first time in the Regular Batasang Pambansa, electing one representative, at large, in 1984. All Philippine cities are chartered cities ( fil, nakakartang lungsod), whose existence as corporate and administrative entities is governed by their own specific municipal charters in addition to the Local Government Code of 1991, which specifies their administrative structure and powers. As of December 17, 2022, there are 148 cities. A city is entitled to at least one representative in the House of Representatives if its population reaches 250,000. Cagayan De Oro River
Cagayan River, often called the Cagayan de Oro River, is one of the rivers draining the northern central part of the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The river has its headwaters in the Kalatungan Mountain Range and Kitanglad Mountain Range found in the central part of the province of Bukidnon. It traverses the municipalities of Talakag, Baungon and Libona, connecting tributaries along the way. It finally empties into the Macajalar Bay at Cagayan de Oro in the province of Misamis Oriental. The river serves as the natural boundary between the province of Bukidnon and Iligan and between Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro, based on the administrative order issued by the defunct Department of Mindanao and Sulu during the American occupation of the Philippines. Cagayan De Oro's 2nd Congressional District
Cagayan de Oro's 2nd congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in Cagayan de Oro. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, House of Representatives since 2007. It was created by the 2007 reapportionment that divided the city into two congressional districts and which took effect in the same year. The district is composed of the barangays located east of the Cagayan River (Mindanao), Cagayan River and includes the city's downtown commercial core and port area.
