Legislative Districts Of Zamboanga City
The legislative districts of Zamboanga City are the representations of the highly urbanized city of Zamboanga in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first and second congressional districts. History Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Zamboanga City were represented under the Department of Mindanao and Sulu (1917–1935), Zamboanga Province (1935–1953), Zamboanga del Sur (1953–1972) and Region IX (1978–1984). Having been re-classified as a highly urbanized city on November 22, 1983, Zamboanga City was granted separate representation for the first time in 1984, when it returned one representative, elected at large, to the Regular Batasang Pambansa. A city ( fil, lungsod/siyudad) is one of the units of local government in the Philippines. All Philippine cities are chartered cities ( fil, nakakartang lungsod), whose existence as corporate and administrative entities is governed by their own specific municipal charters in addition to the Local Government Code of 1991, which specifies their administrative structure and powers. As of December 17, 2022, there are 148 cities. A city is entitled to at least one representative in the House of Representatives if its population reaches 250,000. Cities are allowed to use a common seal. 2007 Philippine House Of Representatives Elections
The 2007 Philippine House of Representatives elections were held on May 14, 2007, to elect members to the House of Representatives of the Philippines to serve in the 14th Congress of the Philippines from June 30, 2007, until June 30, 2010. Maria Clara Lobregat
María Clara Rafols Lorenzo Lobregat (April 26, 1921 – January 2, 2004) was the first female mayor and also a representative to the Philippine Congress of Zamboanga City. Early life Lobregat or "" was born April 26, 1921, in the then-municipality of Zamboanga, the second of five children of Don Pablo Lorenzo, who was the mayor of Zamboanga City from 1939 until 1940, a representative to the first Philippine Assembly, and a delegate to the Philippine Constitutional Convention, and Luisa Rafols of Cebu City. Erico Basilio Fabian
Erico Basilio Apolinario Fabian, locally known as Erbie Fabian, served in the Zamboanga City Council and served as vice mayor, mayor and a representative. Birth and Education Erbie, as he was fondly called, was born on September 12, 1957. His father was a well-known painter, Eric Fabian, and his mother, Gloria Apolinario Fabian, was a grade school teacher of the Ateneo de Zamboanga. He is the eldest of seven children—three boys and four girls. Fabian then took his elementary, high school and college education at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University. He then went on to obtain his nursing diploma at the Zamboanga General Hospital School of Nursing in 1978. Celso Lobregat
Celso L. Lobregat, III (born March 20, 1948), is a Filipino politician having served as Zamboanga City's mayor and congressman. Early life and career Lobregat comes from a long line of landlord-politicians from Mindanao. His grandfather Pablo Lorenzo, was once Mayor of Zamboanga City and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1934. In the Quirino administration, Don Pablo Lorenzo held several cabinet positions, which included Secretary of Education and Secretary of Public Works. During the Macapagal administration, he was chair of the Development Bank of the Philippines. Celso's mother, Maria Clara Lobregat, was a Delegate to the 1971 Philippine Constitutional Convention and was a three-term Congresswoman of Zamboanga City, starting 1987.
