Lee Chong Wei (film)
''Lee Chong Wei'' is a 2018 Malaysian biopic film directed by Teng Bee, about the inspirational story of national icon Lee Chong Wei (also features as a cameo appearances), who rose from sheer poverty to become the top badminton player in the world. The film is based on Lee's 2012 autobiography ''Dare to Be a Champion'' (which has been translated into English by Patty Tai Peck Sing). The film stars in the titular role 2 newcomers: 13-year-old Jake Eng and 22-year-old Tosh Chan, who were picked from more than 2,000 auditioned hopefuls. Plot The movie begins with a young boy asking Lee how to be as good of a shuttler as him after a badminton match. Lee Chong Wei
Datuk Lee Chong Wei (; born 21 October 1982) is a Malaysian former badminton player. As a singles player, Lee was ranked first worldwide for 349 weeks, including a 199-week streak from 21 August 2008 to 14 June 2012. He is the fifth Malaysian player after Foo Kok Keong, Rashid Sidek, Roslin Hashim and Wong Choong Hann to achieve such a ranking (since official rankings were first kept in the 1980s), and is the only Malaysian shuttler who has held the number one ranking for more than a year. Lee is a triple silver medalist at the Olympic Games, and the sixth Malaysian to win an Olympic medal. Teh Peng Huat
Teh Peng Huat (born 1937) is a Malaysian badminton coach based in Bukit Mertajam, Seberang Perai, Penang who coaches local youth players. He is best known for spotting Lee Chong Wei and bringing Lee under his tutelage in the early 1990s, and credited with quickly developing Lee into a national junior champion. He also developed many other kids into professional badminton players, including Goh Jin Wei, Chin Eei Hui, Cheam June Wei, Tee Jing Yi, Nelson Heg, and Cheah Yee See. He received Penang's Best Coach award in 2004. The story of how he went out of his way to convince Lee Chong Wei's father to let him coach Chong Wei—including making a promise to waive Chong Wei's fees and offering to send Chong Wei home after every training session—has been reported by international media.
