Le Touquet – Côte D'Opale Airport
Le Touquet – Côte d'Opale Airport (french: Aéroport de Le Touquet - Côte d'Opale) is east-southeast of Le Touquet, a commune of the Pas-de-Calais department on the coast of northern France. In September 2022, it was announced by Emmanuel Macron that the airport would be renamed in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. The passenger terminal is open from 09:00-20:00 hours. There are three flying clubs and most of them also give flying lessons; two of them are helicopter schools and clubs. Le Touquet-Paris-Plage
Le Touquet-Paris-Plage (; pcd, Ech Toutchet-Paris-Plache; vls, 't Oekske, older nl, Het Hoekske), commonly referred to as Le Touquet (), is a commune near Étaples, in the Pas-de-Calais department, northern France. It has a population of 4,227 (2019), but welcomes up to 250,000 people during the summer. Aer Lingus Flight 164 was a scheduled Boeing 737 passenger flight that was hijacked on 2 May 1981, en route from Dublin Airport in Ireland to London Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom. Hijacking While on approach to Heathrow, about five minutes before the flight was due to land, a 55-year-old Australian named Laurence James Downey went into the toilet and doused himself in petrol. He then went to the cockpit and demanded that the plane continue on to Le Touquet – Côte d'Opale Airport in France, and refuel there for a flight to Tehran, Iran. Manston Airport was a British airport. It was branded as Manston, Kent International Airport and was located in the parish of Minster-in-Thanet and partly adjacent to the village of Manston in the Thanet district of Kent, England, north-east of Canterbury.
