Elizabeth LeCompte (born April 28, 1944) is an American director of experimental theater, dance, and media. Joseph Lecompte
Joseph Lecompte (December 15, 1797 – April 25, 1851) was a United States representative from Kentucky. He was born in Woodford County, Kentucky near the town of Georgetown, Kentucky. He moved to Henry County, Kentucky with his parents, who settled in Lecomptes Bottom on the Kentucky River where he attended the common schools. Later, he engaged in agricultural pursuits. He owned slaves. Lecompte served during the War of 1812. He was a member of the Kentucky Riflemen. During the conflict, he participated in the Battle of New Orleans. After the war, he served as a major in the Kentucky militia. Lecompte was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1819, 1822, 1838, 1839, and 1844. He was elected to the Nineteenth Congress and reelected to the Twentieth and Twenty-first Congresses and reelected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-second Congress (March 4, 1825 – March 3, 1833). Marie Le Compte was an American journal editor and anarchist who was active during the early 1880s. Early career Marie Le Compte was of French origin but settled in the United States, where she joined the Socialist movement, speaking and writing for that cause. Le Compte was a friend of John Swinton. She was an editor and a writer for Joseph Patrick McDonnell's New York ''Labor Standard''. According to Paul Avrich she was "an exotic and somewhat mysterious figure" with "a special sympathy for outlaws and tramps." Lecompte ( ) is a town in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, United States. Lecompte is situated along the banks of the Red River in central Louisiana. US Highway 71, Louisiana’s major north-south route which connects Baton Rouge and Shreveport, runs through Lecompte. Lecompte is named after a horse called LeComte, which was named after horse breeder Ambrose LeComte. It is part of the Alexandria, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lecompte High School
Lecompte High School is a former public school located in Lecompte, Louisiana that opened in 1924 and closed in 1967. The Class of 1966 was the last graduating class. It was always a school with grades one through twelve for those years. It continued for several more years as an elementary school. The property was deeded to the Town of Lecompte by the Rapides Parish School Board. The Save the School Foundation which later became the LHS Foundation, saved the school, repaired and renovated it, and turned most of the classrooms into museum rooms containing local and state history. There are several thousand items and artifacts on view. The Old school belongs to the Town of Lecompte, but the town has contracted with the LHS Corporation to run, maintain and improve the property and museum rooms.
