Edward Lazear
Edward Paul Lazear (, ; August 17, 1948November 23, 2020) was an American economist, the Morris Arnold and Nona Jean Cox Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and the Davies Family Professor of Economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Lazear served as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from 2006 to 2009. As Chairman, he was the chief economic advisor to President George W. Bush, holding a cabinet-level post as part of the White House team that led the response to the 2007-2008 financial crisis. Lazear has been called the founder of personnel economics a field of economics that applies economic models to the study of the management of human resources in the firm. His research advanced new models of employee incentives, promotions, compensation and productivity in firms. Jesse Lazear
Jesse Lazear (December 12, 1804 – September 2, 1877) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Biography Lazear was born to Thomas Lazear, Esq., and Elizabeth (Braddock) in Richhill Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.http://ppolinks.com/greeneconnections/THRJ-AN001-0000.pdf He received a limited schooling, taught school, and engaged in mercantile pursuits. He served as Recorder of Deeds for Greene County, Pennsylvania, from 1829 to 1832. Lazear was a bank cashier of the Farmers & Drovers' Bank in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania from 1835 to 1867. Lazear was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-seventh and Thirty-eighth Congresses. He served as chairman of the United States House Committee on Expenditures on Public Buildings during the Thirty-seventh Congress. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1864. Jesse William Lazear
Jesse William Lazear (2 May 1866, in Baltimore – 25 September 1900, in Quemados, Cuba) was an American physician. Background Lazear was the son of William and Charlotte née Pettigrew. He attended Trinity Hall Military Academy and Washington & Jefferson College, both in Washington, Pennsylvania, and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1889 from Johns Hopkins University and his PhD in Medicine in 1892 from the Medical School at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He did his specialization in Paris at the Institut Pasteur. In 1896 he married Mabel Houston with whom he had two children. He was also a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Career Lazear was a physician at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore starting in 1895, where he studied malaria and yellow fever.
