Layton Station (FrontRunner)
Layton station is a FrontRunner commuter rail station in Layton, Utah. It is operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). Description The station is located at 150 South Main Street ( SR-126) on approximately 12.5 acres of land and is easily accessed from I-15 by way of the new Layton Parkway interchange. The station is near the south end of Layton's historic downtown area, which had suffered from a hard-to-access location in a highly acute wedge bounded by I-15 on the northeast and the railroad tracks on the southwest. The railroad tracks have also presented enough of a barrier that the area west of the station and the tracks is still undeveloped despite its proximity to the historic downtown. Besides the station's opening on the site of the previous Union Pacific Layton Depot, access in the area has also recently been improved (both from I-15 and from surrounding parts of Layton) by the completion of the new Layton Parkway interchange on I-15, which is just south of the stat ... Interstate 15 In Utah
Interstate 15 (I-15) runs north–south in the U.S. state of Utah through the southwestern and central portions of the state, passing through most of the state's population centers, including St. George and those comprising the Wasatch Front: Provo–Orem, Salt Lake City, and Ogden–Clearfield. It is Utah's primary north–south highway, as the vast majority of the state's population lives along its corridor; the Logan metropolitan area is the state's only Metropolitan Statistical Area through which I-15 does not pass. In 1998, the Utah State Legislature designated Utah's entire portion of the road as the Veterans Memorial Highway. Route description The Interstate passes through the fast-growing Dixie region, which includes St. George and Cedar City, and eventually most of the major cities and suburbs along the Wasatch Front, including Provo, Orem, Sandy, West Jordan, Salt Lake City, Layton, and Ogden. Railway Stations In The United States Opened In 2008
Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. In contrast to road transport, where the vehicles run on a prepared flat surface, rail vehicles (rolling stock) are directionally guided by the tracks on which they run. Tracks usually consist of steel rails, installed on sleepers (ties) set in ballast, on which the rolling stock, usually fitted with metal wheels, moves. Other variations are also possible, such as "slab track", in which the rails are fastened to a concrete foundation resting on a prepared subsurface. Rolling stock in a rail transport system generally encounters lower frictional resistance than rubber-tyred road vehicles, so passenger and freight cars (carriages and wagons) can be coupled into longer trains. The operation is carried out by a railway company, providing transport between train stations or freight customer facilit ... Layton Oregon Short Line Railroad Station
The Layton Oregon Short Line Railroad Station is a historic railroad depot in Layton, Utah, United States. The depot was opened in 1912 alongside the tracks of the Oregon Short Line Railroad, which at that time was a subsidiary of (and later merged into) the Union Pacific Railroad. The depot was used for both freight and passenger traffic until the 1960s. Description In 1972 the depot building was sold with the stipulation it be removed from the original site. The new owner moved the building approximately 1,200 feet to the southeast, flipping the original trackside of the building around to the east, but keeping the depot alongside the railroad tracks. The original site of the depot is just southeast of Layton's Veterans Park on Gentile Street. Following the move, the building housed a number of different businesses until 2010, when the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) purchased the building as part of the construction of a neighboring intersection. Acute Angle
In Euclidean geometry, an angle is the figure formed by two rays, called the '' sides'' of the angle, sharing a common endpoint, called the ''vertex'' of the angle. Angles formed by two rays lie in the plane that contains the rays. Angles are also formed by the intersection of two planes. These are called dihedral angles. Two intersecting curves may also define an angle, which is the angle of the rays lying tangent to the respective curves at their point of intersection. ''Angle'' is also used to designate the measure of an angle or of a rotation. This measure is the ratio of the length of a circular arc to its radius. In the case of a geometric angle, the arc is centered at the vertex and delimited by the sides. In the case of a rotation, the arc is centered at the center of the rotation and delimited by any other point and its image by the rotation. History and etymology The word ''angle'' comes from the Latin word ''angulus'', meaning "corner"; cognate words are the Greek ... Commuter Rail In North America
Commuter rail services in the United States, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, and Costa Rica provide common carrier passenger transportation along railway tracks, with scheduled service on fixed routes on a non-reservation basis, primarily for short-distance (local) travel between a central business district and adjacent suburbs and regional travel between cities of a conurbation. It does ''not'' include rapid transit or light rail service. Services Many, but not all, newer commuter railways offer service during peak times only, with trains into the central business district during morning rush hour and returning to the outer areas during the evening rush hour. This mode of operation is, in many cases, simplified by ending the train with a special passenger carriage (referred to as a cab car), which has an operating cab and can control the locomotive remotely, to avoid having to turn the train around at each end of its route. Other systems avoid the problem entirely by using b ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
