Lay Your Hands On Me (Thompson Twins Song)
"Lay Your Hands on Me" is the first single released from the album ''Here's to Future Days'' by the British band Thompson Twins. Written by Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway, it was released in the UK almost a year in advance of the album. There are two main versions of the song, with various edits and remixes of the two. The first version, produced by Alex Sadkin & Tom Bailey, was released in late 1984 in Europe and Australia. The 1985 version was a reworking co-produced by Nile Rodgers, adding electric guitar and a gospel choir and released as a single in the US; this version appeared on the album. The single peaked at No. 13 in the UK, spending nine weeks on the chart. In the US, it peaked at No. 14 on both the Adult Contemporary and Rock Tracks charts, No. 46 on the Dance Club Play chart, and No. 6 on the Hot 100 singles chart. Thompson Twins
Thompson Twins were a British Pop music, pop band formed in 1977 in Sheffield. Initially a New wave music, new wave group, they switched to a more mainstream pop sound and achieved considerable popularity during the mid-1980s, scoring a string of hits in the United Kingdom, the United States, and around the world. In 1993, they changed their name to Babble (band), Babble, to reflect their change in music from pop to Dub music, dub-influenced Chill-out music, chill-out. They continued as Babble until 1996, at which point the group permanently broke up. The band's name was based on the two bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson (who are close doubles not twins) in the English language version of Hergé's comic strip ''The Adventures of Tintin''. Dieter Trattmann (b. Switzerland) is a director/editor and producer who resides in California. Life and career Dieter Trattmann was born and raised in Switzerland. In the late 1970s, he became fascinated with music and film and moved to London where he attended the London Film School. In 1983, he went to work for MGMM Productions in London, beginning his career in film by directing a commercial for MTV. In 1986, he moved to EMI/Picture Music International, where he continued his film career, specializing in music videos during the 1980s and 1990s and directing work for Donna Summer, the Thompson Twins, Cliff Richard and Placido Domingo. ''Here's to Future Days'' is the fifth studio album by British pop group Thompson Twins, released on 20 September 1985 by Arista Records. It was the third and final release for the band as a trio, which was their most successful and recognisable line-up. It peaked at 5 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 20 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. Before the album's release, the Thompson Twins performed at Live Aid in July 1985, where they revealed their new material by playing a rock-oriented version of the Beatles' song "Revolution". The band were also joined onstage for this number by Nile Rodgers (who co-produced the album), Madonna, and guitarist Steve Stevens, perhaps best known for his work with Billy Idol. ''Perfect'' is a 1985 American romantic drama film directed by James Bridges and distributed by Columbia Pictures. It was written by Aaron Latham and James Bridges and is based on a series of articles that appeared in ''Rolling Stone'' magazine in the late 1970s, chronicling the popularity of Los Angeles health clubs among single people.
