Lawrence Eckhoff
Lawrence Raymond James Eckhoff (born 19 May 1952 in Dunedin) is a former New Zealand cricketer. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, Eckhoff played one first-class and one List A cricket match for Otago in the 1975–76 season. In his List A match against Canterbury, he took the only two Canterbury wickets to fall, those of Barry Hadlee and Peter Coman. In ten years of A grade cricket in Dunedin he took 427 wickets at an average of 17.2. He moved to Australia after accepting an offer from the Sturt Cricket Club in Adelaide. He was a member of the Sturt team that won the premiership in 1979. He left Sturt in 1981 to take up a playing coach position at Port Adelaide Cricket Club. Eckhoff returned to Sturt in 1985. The Sturt Cricket Club (formerly the Unley Cricket Club) is a semi-professional cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). The club entered the SACA competition in season 1897/98. Otago (, ; mi, Ōtākou ) is a region of New Zealand located in the southern half of the South Island administered by the Otago Regional Council. Port Adelaide Cricket Club
Port Adelaide Cricket Club is a cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. Its home oval is the Port Reserve, Port Adelaide. The club was founded in 1893. Port Adelaide has played in the South Australian Grade Cricket League since 1897. History Newspaper records show that a Port Adelaide cricket team existed in the early 1860s. The team competed briefly in the Adelaide Suburban Cricket Association before forming a local league, the Port Adelaide Cricket Association in 1882–83. William Whitridge proposed Port Adelaide at the annual meeting of the SACA in September 1885 but the motion was defeated due to the lack of available grounds. They were admitted for season 1893–94, and in 1896 combined with the Australs to play as Port-Australs for one final season. Peter Coman
Peter George Coman (born 13 April 1943) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played three One Day Internationals in the 1970s. He was the first player to play One Day Internationals and never appear in a Test match. An opening batsman, Coman was described by ''Wisden'' in 1974 as "the most colourful batsman in New Zealand cricket at present". For Canterbury against the touring Pakistan team in January 1973, he hit two sixes in the first over of the match on his way to Canterbury's top score of 42 in a total of 129. A month later, he opened the batting for New Zealand in their first One-Day International, facing the first delivery and scoring 24 in New Zealand's 22-run victory over Pakistan. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Barry George Hadlee (born 14 December 1941) is a former cricketer from New Zealand. He was a right-handed opening batsman. In a first-class career lasting from 1961–62 to 1980–81, he represented Canterbury 84 times. Family Hadlee was born in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. He is a brother of fellow national cricketers Dayle Hadlee and Sir Richard Hadlee and son of Walter Hadlee. Domestic career His most consistent form came late in his career.
