Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). It is normally played outdoors (although there are many indoor venues) and the outdoor surface is either natural grass, artificial turf or cotula (in New Zealand). Donna McCloy ( Donna McNally, born 2 September 1972) is a Northern Irish international lawn bowler. Bowls career International McNally won the triples gold medal at the 1999 Atlantic Bowls Championships with Margaret Johnston and Dorothy Kane. Six years later she won the fours bronze medal at the 2005 Atlantic Championships. She then won the bronze medal in the fours at the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch. After taking part in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2014 Commonwealth Games she was selected as part of the Northern Ireland team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland. National McNally won the 2000 pairs title at the Irish National Bowls Championships, bowling for the Comber Club. Caroline Brown (born 27 August 1980) is a Scottish international indoor and lawn and indoor bowls player. Bowls career Brown was born in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire on 27 August 1980. She won the 2007 World Indoor Bowls Championship women's singles and five years later who won a gold and bronze medal at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. In 2009, she won the pairs gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. After winning the 2010 Scottish National Bowls Championships she subsequently won the singles at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 2011. Hannah Smith (bowls)
Hannah Smith (born 14 July 1986) is a Scottish and former Welsh international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Smith from Carmarthen won the fours gold medal at the 2009 Atlantic Bowls Championships. She then won a bronze medal in the pairs at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and two years later won another bronze in the triples at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Adelaide. Smith later represented Scotland and in 2019 she won the Scottish National Bowls Championships pairs title with Claire Johnston. Anwen Butten
Margaret Anwen Butten (born 29 August 1972 in Carmarthen) is a Welsh international Bowls competitor for Wales. Bowls career Her passion for bowls began at the age of 13 after watching her Mother play for the Welsh International team. Seeing her mother play inspired her to play. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games she won a bronze medal along with Joanna Weale in the women's pairs event. Butten competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne but was unsuccessful in winning a medal. Amy Pharaoh (born 20 March 1979 in Grimsby), also known as Amy Gowshall and Amy Monkhouse, is an English international lawn and indoor bowler. Personal life In August 2002, she married and became Amy Monkhouse. She has since reverted to her birth name of Amy Gowshall but then remarried in 2022 to become Amy Pharaoh.
