Law Of The Jungle (film)
''Law of the Jungle'' is a 1942 American adventure film directed by Jean Yarbrough. Plot A singer, Nona Brooks, is stranded at a hotel in Africa because her passport is missing. It turns out enemy agents, in collaboration with hotel owner Simmons, have stolen her papers, then try to use her for their nefarious schemes. Brooks flees and encounters paleontologist Larry Mason in the jungle. He and his assistant Jefferson Jones give her shelter, then fend off unfriendly natives while Simmons is murdered by the villainous agents. All looks hopeless until the tribal chief turns out to be a reasonable, Oxford-educated man who helps Larry and Nona out of their jam. Jean Yarbrough
Jean Yarbrough (August 22, 1901 – August 2, 1975) was an American film director. Biography Jean Yarbrough was born in Marianna, Arkansas on August 22, 1901. He attended the University of the South located in Sewanee, Tennessee. In 1922, Yarbrough entered the film business working in silent pictures, first as a "prop man" and later rising through the ranks to become an assistant director. By 1936, he was a bona fide director, first doing comedy and musical shorts for RKO which was founded by Joseph P. Kennedy among others. His directorial debut for a feature-length film was ''Rebellious Daughters'' which was made by the low-budget studio, Progressive Pictures in 1938. Victor Kendall (26 September 1903–date unknown) was a British screenwriter notable for his work in the 1930s. Kendall wrote the screenplay for ''Atlantic (1929 film), Atlantic'' the first sound film, sound portrayal of the RMS Titanic, Titanic Disaster.Richards p.12 Kendall worked for several British studios and production companies but spent most of his screenwriting career with the large British International Pictures organisation where he wrote scripts for several of the companies leading directors such as Ewald André Dupont and Thomas Bentley (director), Thomas Bentley.
