Laurie Bishop
Laurie Bishop (born 1970) is an American politician who serves in the Montana House of Representatives from the 60th district since 2017, as a member of the Democratic Party. During her tenure in the state house she served as chair of the Democratic caucus. Early life and education Laurie Bishop was born in 1970, in Rochester, New York, and grew up in Illinois and Virginia. She graduated from high school in Ohio, and graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology. She moved to Montana in 1996. She has been married to Storrs Bishop, with whom she had three children, for twenty-eight years and reside in Livingston, Montana. Political career Bishop ran for a seat in the Montana House of Representatives from the 60th district in the 2016 election with the Democratic nomination and defeated incumbent Republican Representative Debra Lamm. Debra A. Lamm is an American politician from the state of Montana. She is a former chair of the Montana Republican Party and a former member of the Montana House of Representatives. Montana's 2nd congressional district is a congressional district in the United States House of Representatives that was apportioned after the 2020 United States census. The first candidates ran in the 2022 elections for a seat in the 118th United States Congress. From 1913 to 1993, Montana had two congressional seats. From 1913 to 1919, those seats were elected statewide at-large on a general ticket. After 1919, however, the state was divided into geographical districts. The 2nd covered the eastern part of the state, including Billings, Glendive, Miles City, and other towns. After 1993, the second seat was eliminated and the remaining seat was elected . ''Northern Broadcasting System'' was started in 1975 by Conrad Burns (who later became a United States Senator from Montana) as an agricultural broadcast network called the Northern Agricultural Network. Burns created the network after seeing an opportunity to provide information to the agri-business community, Montana's top industry. The network had four stations at its inception and grew in size. In 1986, Burns sold the network to enter Montana politics. Under the guidance of the network's new President/CEO Taylor Brown, the network grew to cover parts of eight states in the Northwestern United States and Canada. Gregory Richard Gianforte (born April 17, 1961) is an American businessman, politician, software engineer, and writer serving as the 25th governor of Montana since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, Gianforte served as the U.S. representative for Montana's at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2021.
